Drawing Into Print: An Introduction to Screen Printing

Join artist and printmaker Shaun James from Shaun James for a relaxed, hands-on
introduction to screen printing.

In this one-day workshop, you will learn how to turn your own drawings and hand-made marks
into a one-colour screen print using mark-resist film, a specialist transparent drawing surface that
captures beautiful lines, textures, washes and painterly marks.

Shaun will guide you through the process step by step, from making your artwork, to exposing it
onto a screen, to printing your own small edition on paper. You will be introduced to a range of
drawing and mark-making techniques, then given time to create your own image before printing it
yourself.

No previous screen-printing experience is needed. All materials are provided. You just need to be
happy to experiment, make marks, get a bit inky and try something new.

You will print and take home 5 copies of your own one-colour screen print.

Over the next week or so we will be announcing traders but trust us you’ll want everything!!!

Along with all the market hustle & bustle we will be slinging hot dogs and dirty chip specials and refreshing thirst quenching cocktails & beers (whatever your tipple … boozy, low or no!)
All tipped off with sounds from best DJ you never heard of in Cardiff IMO! 👌

We’ve teamed up with Dan from and designed a new session centred around the ‘older’ skater. We know those knees creak a little more than they used to,ky perhaps you take a few more breaks… so this is for you. We wanted a session that looked after your mind, body and soul (that’s the bar bit!). The first session is on Sunday 7th July, 6-9 pm.

A 3-hour session includes:

Stretch & Strength lesson with Dan - anti-fragile movement

Skate - the skatepark is all yours for the duration

Sauna & Plunge - Grant from Hot2Cold will be firing up the barrel for you to dip in and out of

and the bar will be open all night for catching up, chatting and maybe a good old groan about the young’uns!

£25 for the session. Pre-booking is essential. Limited spaces available.
