With our end of year reports coming out over the next few weeks, we wanted to share a little more about the areas of development you’ll see reflected in them.

At Flame, we focus on four key areas: technical development, learning skills, performance skills and personal development.

These areas run through our curriculums, shape what we’re working on in class and help us look at the whole journey each dancer is on.

From applying a correction independently, to performing at the Flame Festival, encouraging another dancer or finally mastering a skill they’ve worked on for weeks, there is so much happening behind the steps you see ❤️

Why We Don’t Just Teach Dance Steps There is so much more being developed in a dance class than the steps children learn. From technique and performance to confidence, independence and leadership, we look at the many different ways children grow through dance.

🎉 Our 2026 ISTD Exam Results Are In! 🎉

We're incredibly proud to share that our dancers achieved our strongest exam results to date:

⭐ 93 examinations taken
⭐ 100% Pass Rate
⭐ 45% Distinctions
⭐ 54% Merits

Whilst we're delighted with the results themselves, what makes us proudest is the journey behind them. Behind every mark is a year's worth of learning, practice, perseverance and progress.

In our latest blog, we're reflecting on what these results mean to us, why we value the exam process so highly, and how exams help children develop skills that reach far beyond dance.

Flame Dance Studios Celebrates Its Strongest Ever ISTD Exam Results This year's dancers achieved our strongest exam results to date, with 93 examinations, a 100% pass rate and outstanding Distinction and Merit results. Read our reflections on the achievements, growth and life skills developed throughout the exam process.

That’s a wrap on our 2026 exam sessions! ❤️ 4 whole days of exams 😅

A massive well done to every dancer who took an ISTD Ballet, Tap or Modern exam this week.

I’ve loved seeing all of the hard work that has gone into preparing for these exams, and I was so proud of all of them. They walked into the exam room with confidence, determination and plenty of smiles.

We’re all excited to see the results when they arrive, but right now I’m just proud. Proud of the hard work that went in over the last few months, the resilience they showed when things felt difficult, the support they showed one another in the lead up and this week during the exams, and proud of every single child who walked into that room and gave it everything they had.

It’s one of my favourite times of the year for a reason. I’ve loved spending the week with the dancers, staff, and parents/grandparents/aunties who came to support.

A huge thank you to Ffion and Layla, who are fundamental to the success of this week. We are all so lucky to have you ❤️

And a huge thank you to you, parents/grandparents/aunties. I don’t take your sacrifices for granted when it comes to rescheduling your week to get your children to and from their exams. You have been the biggest support to the dancers and I’ve loved spending time with you this week.

🌞 It’s holiday time! Just a quick reminder that the studio is closed between the 24th and 30th May due to the scheduled May break.

We’ll be back and dancing again from Sunday the 31st May — we can’t wait to see you all soon! 💃🕺
