Are your children wanting to start dance classes this September, but you are worried they may not make friends, won’t know anyone in their new classes, or feel like they do not belong because the other dancers already have friends at school? At En Pointe Theatre Arts, we understand that stepping into a new environment can feel overwhelming for children; however, from day one, our environment is designed to nurture friendships and help dancers feel a sense of belonging in every one of our classes.

Within our younger dance classes, from Tiny Ballet through Grade 1 ballet, along with our ISTD Pre-Primary - Grade 1 Tap and Modern Theatre incorporating creative movement classes, we have dedicated assistant teachers along with our Future Dance Teachers within the studio aiding new dancers to settle into their classes, develop new friendships and find belonging within our community.

We love utilising peer exercises throughout the classes, which encourage collaboration and teamwork, as well as apparatus-based activities that promote focus, teamwork, and communication, helping our dancers build new friendships and authentic connections and feel part of the team from the outset.

Our dancers are very welcoming to new friends, and our small-class environment fosters a sense of community. Classes are capped at 10 students across all age groups and levels of study, so every dancer is seen and fully supported at every stage of their dance journey. From our Tiny Ballet Dancers at Age 2 right through to our adults, the school is a supportive community where collaboration, teamwork, belonging, and a supportive, nurturing environment live. Watching our dancers at community performances and school productions, for example, where they are working together whether or not they are normally in the same class or in the same age group, they develop strong connections. We are proud of our school environment, where our dancers know each other across all levels, ages, and stages of their training.

The importance of striving for Excellence and undertaking a dance education backed by the principles of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and neurodynamics 🩰 ✨

At En Pointe Theatre Arts, achieving excellence in technique and artistic performance is not just about the positions and the movement itself. Our approach focuses on providing our dancers with an education centred on anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and neurodynamics, enabling them to understand their individual bodies and how these may differ from those of their peers. We educate our dancers on the reason behind their technique, enabling longevity and safe progression within their dance training.

Within our Royal Academy of Dance Grade 1 and 2 Ballet classes before the summer holidays our Principal and Royal Academy of Dance and Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing Registered Teacher, Miss Danielle, spent time discussing the importance of articulating through the 28 bones of the feet along with utilising the resistence provided by the floor during their exercises whilst performing movements such as battement tendus, grands battements and battment fondus for example. Through the utilisation of intentional movements and understanding the reasons behind every movement a dancer performs, they develop the intrinsic muscle strength required for future development in allegro exercises and eventually into demi-pointe and pointe shoes.

This August Bank Holiday, we are offering all new students the opportunity to participate in two weeks of taster sessions at 50% off. Meaning your dancer gets to experience our En Pointe Theatre Arts community for two weeks of classes for the price of one.

This offer applies to our Pre-School division for children ages 2-4 years, and our Recreational Examination syllabus division for ages 4.5 through adult. Offer not valid for our high-performance vocational division, and our adult dance community has a waiting list (we hope to add a new class soon); however, there is the option to undertake syllabus classes if you would like to as an adult.

Looking for an activity where your little dancer, aged 2 to 4 years, can grow and develop in a supportive, nurturing environment? 🩰✨

Tiny Ballet classes at En Pointe Theatre Arts take place on Saturday mornings at Pontprennau Primary School from 10 - 10:30 am.

Classes focus on encouraging children to become independent both as learners and individuals. ✨ This is built through developing the confidence to enter the studio on their own, which for some children happens straight away, whereas for others it can take 6 months. Each young dancer's timeline is completely their own at this young age, and no dancer is rushed to meet this milestone. 🩷

By building independence, young dancers build friendships and learn invaluable communication skills with their peers and teachers, which subsequently help prepare them for nursery and primary school.

Classes utilise props such as feathers, ribbons, and wands to encourage young dancers' creativity and imagination. 🪽🎀 We also love hearing our dancers' own ideas and thoughts, as it encourages collaboration between students and teachers. ✨

We believe every dancer deserves to “Embrace their dreams, chase them with courage, overcome challenges, and surround themselves with positivity” within a community environment where they truly find belonging. 💫🌈✨

At En Pointe Theatre Arts, we cap our classes at 10 students. This enables us to provide a high standard of dance education through individualised teaching and learning, ensuring our dancers achieve to the best of their individual ability, with students progressing from our Tiny Ballet classes into our Royal Academy of Dance and Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing classes at their own pace. 🩰

During our recent high-performance summer intensive, our Royal Academy of Dance and Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing students had the opportunity to participate in a professional dance photoshoot with Kayla from Michaela Budd - KMB Photography Cardiff

✨Caerwyn: Royal Academy of Dance Primary in Dance Ballet, Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing Primary Tap, and Primary Modern
✨Isabelle: RAD Grades 1 and 2 Ballet, ISTD Grade 1 Tap and Grade 2 Modern, incorporating creative movement
✨Seren: RAD Grades 2 and 3 Ballet, ISTD Grade 2 Tap and Grade 2 Modern, incorporating creative movement

Whilst Miss Danielle asked them to perform specific ballet positions to monitor their technical progression as they grow and develop, our dancers were also given creative freedom to pose individually or with their peers, resulting in some fun, creative shots. And of course, Miss Danielle's puppy Mali🩰|Maltese Girl , whom our dancers love, had to get in on the action. 🐶🐾

The dancers enjoyed choosing their backdrop for their photos, making it an extra-special experience and giving them ownership and individuality over the shoot, while encouraging creativity and independence.

Thank you to Kayla for making this day so special for our dancers and for sharing some sample images whilst we excitedly await the final images.
