I’m genuinely gutted.

Dolly Parton was an icon.

If you watch and interviews with her you’ll know she had a way with words and was constantly underestimated and belittled. She always knew how to use her wit, humour and unique style to answer her critics with class.

She was an amazing philanthropist and gave hundreds of thousands of books to help improve literacy for children from backgrounds like hers.

I always admired her.

Also, I have ADHD and now I can’t stop hyper focusing to learning everything I can about her.

Understanding Behaviour part 56: POV: Children NEED to get bored.

Why is has boredom become a vital thing to prevent rather than a normal part of the human experience?

This morning I was delivering online training to a lovely group of SNAs at a school in Ireland. We were discussing how there has been a shift towards preventing boredom, irritation, confusion and frustration in children.

Now , it’s true that sometimes these can lead to meltdown or shutdown in a neurodivergent child if they escalate too far…but… these are also part of the natural range of human emotions that we all need to experience in order to learn problem solving, creativity, ingenuity and resilience. All of which are vital to survive and thrive in society.

How can we support our neurodivergent children to work through their boredom and the related irritation, confusion and frustration.
Here are my thoughts 💭.

Neuroteachers international! Photo and video dump of the last 7 days. Craig Wakeley and I covered nearly 3000 miles across 7 counties and I did whole days training in international schools. I’m still blown away by that they wanted to hear from me to much that they brought me all the way from Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿.

It’s been a trip of a lifetime.

Recovery dat today then I’ve got online training for a school in Ireland, early years teachers in Victoria, Australia and … the wonderful Torfaen Talks CIC later this week!

Germany part 2: Ich liebe Deutschland.

We had a wonderful time!
Not only did I get to work the fabulous teachers and support staff from the independent international school in Bonn ( Bad Godesberg) but also had a day in Köln where I went back to see where I used to live. Spoiler ‼️ it’s now a lawyer‘s office. But I guess you can expect a lot to change in 25 years.

Other highlights include:
The massive, gothic Catherdral, „lovelock“ bridge in Köln and a wonderful thermal baths.

The botanical gardens, an amazing vegan restaurant just opposite our hotel and Kamps ( other brand are available but it my favourite German bakery).

I’m so glad Neuroteachers international. Couldn’t have done it without Virtual Assistant.

Do grateful to the schools for this opportunity ☺️🙏.
