We had two out today at the Doncaster Box Cup at The Dome.

Hasan started the day in the quarter-finals against a very good lad from Boxclub, who had previously beaten Hasan last year. Hasan started brilliantly and took the first round, but slowed down in the second and third. This happens and it just wasn’t be in the very close-fought bout.

Shortly after, Keelan boxed against a lad from St Paul’s. Keelan made a great start, with very little between the boys through the first two rounds, but the other lad had the better third round and took the win in another tight contest.

Two lessons rather than losses for both boys.

For their first box cup experience, both can take plenty from today and be proud of their efforts. They’ll now take those lessons forward as we move into the new season starting in September.

And The New🏆

What a fantastic show in a good venue.

We had Dent boxing on the LA show just down the road at Scawthorpe Club, in his 29th fight and his 18th of this season, for the Vacant Open Class 60kg Yorkshire Belt.

It’s been a long time coming, as it’s seemed an age that he has been preparing for it.

Dent was up against a very good lad from LA and someone who had already beat Keelan twice.

Keelan had to adapt after the first round and change the tempo due to his opponent having a great first round, and that he did, boxing beautifully to instruction, clearly winning the 2nd and 3rd, with no arguments, especially the 2nd, landing some big, heavy shots.

Taking nothing away from his opponent, as he was very good and awkward.

Dent came out the victor in a great bout, winning on points with a unanimous decision to win his 1st Yorkshire Belt at his first attempt.

And he’s still not done; he’s got one more next week to finally conclude his season at the opposite side of the country, down in Essex.
