Bootcamp to Basecamp is on a temporary hiatus until we restart operations in January 2020. Right now we're planning your exercise sessions and looking for new destinations for our overseas adventures.
One half of the team is currently in the Kingdom of Tonga setting up a Humpback whale conservation project for just six lucky people to experience next year. As well offering this unique encounter, we've created overseas treks, cycling adventures and luxury fitness retreats for you to indulge in next year.
Bring it on.

One of the conundrums facing us when deciding what to eat to be healthy, lean and strong is how much fat / protein and carbohydrates we should be getting in our diet.
It is really dependent on what you want to achieve, so like Arnie here, if you want to be a bodybuilder then he's right, you need lots more protein to support the growth of all that muscle.
However, if you just want to be leaner and lose some excess body fat (without losing any muscle) then you might try reducing your intake of sugar and carbohydrates (cereals, bread, pasta, rice, potatoes) it really is that simple.
Have a look at this alternative food pyramid. These are natural foods that we successfully evolved by eating and guess what? It is practically impossible to become fat eating them.
Compare it to the UK 'Eatwell' plate, all those grains and refined carbohydrates. We're in the midst of an obesity epidemic in the Western world, could it be possible that we may, just may, have been given some incorrect advice on what we should be eating to be healthy?

Eat fat to lose fat?
"Don't be ridiculous, fat makes you fat, everyone knows that" they say. But could they be wrong?
And the other classic:
"Eat low-fat foods including lots of whole-grains and get your 5 a day".
We've been told this for decades by Government, media and health professionals, so it must be true right? And if it's true, then the vast majority of people must be lean and healthy as a result, right?
Have you looked around you recently? Do you admire how the majority of people are in such fantastic shape? Lean, energetic, glowing with health? No, me neither.
If you want to have a lean, strong physique then come and talk to us at Bootcamp to Basecamp. We don't do dieting, we don't do denial. Instead we find enjoyable ways of eating that work for you as an individual. Here's a couple of recent (and close to home) examples of fat loss that are down to reducing sugars and carbohydrates and increasing natural fats including butter, fatty cuts of meat and coconut oil:
Male, 52yrs, 5ft11
April 2019
88.9kg

Female 32yrs 5ft7

Who are Bootcamp to Basecamp?
Our Team combines youth and innovation (Isla) with old age and adventure travel experience (Howard). Hugely popular with her Personal Trainer clients, Isla is focused on her clients success. Now with her fitness classes, assault course and team-building events she is well on the way to creating her fitness empire.
Having owned a luxury private gym for almost five years, Howard was looking to combine his training skills with his 25 years of experience in adventure travel to create a new way of outdoor training. The real difference with Bootcamp To Basecamp is that we can get you lean, strong and confident enough to maybe join us halfway around the world for a next-level physical challenge.

So, what is the 'Basecamp' bit about in our name? In March this year we took 16 intrepid adventurers to trek 100km across the Sahara desert...here's what one of them thought of the experience....
'The Sahara desert trip? Wow, the most amazing experience and with such a professional and friendly outfit. The desert is mind blowing, with vast open salt pans, scrub land and endless huge sand dunes. To see the moon rising before the sun disappears and sleeping under the endless expanse of stars is awe inspiring and makes you feel insignificant in an awesome way. Thank you Howard and Dave for a fabulous adventure.'
Rob - Fireman
If you rise to the challenge of our Bootcamps, maybe you'd like to push yourself even further? Cross a desert like Rob, climb a 4,000m+ peak, set off from the Pacific coast of Costa Rica to hike, bike and paddle your way across to the Caribbean coast (saying hi to the Sloths en route!), or how about visiting the Spinner dolphins of Moon Reef in Fiji where Howard used to live?
Anything is possible and we can take you there.
