Celebrating My New Milestones
I just want to share some exciting news: I have completed 100 hours of coaching practice with 12 coachees. It has been an honour to support and inspire them on their journeys of self-discovery and personal growth, while also developing deep and meaningful connections with each of them.
These experiences have allowed me to understand people on a deeper level – their concerns, struggles, blind spots, and the underlying reasons that may leave them feeling stuck. Having gone through many challenges of my own, I have often relied on reading, learning, and self-reflection to overcome my own hurdles and gradually develop a framework to help others.
As a result, I have developed a deep empathy for what people are going through and how painful it can be to face these challenges alone. I hope to support them in overcoming their immediate challenges, while helping them gain a deeper understanding of themselves – their personalities, values, strengths, and weaknesses.
Ultimately, my wish is to help them cultivate a positive, optimistic, constructive, and growth-oriented mindset, so that they can create a happier, more fulfilling life that they genuinely enjoy.
I’m also excited to launch my new landing page, Winner Lee Mindvigation, developed by Brook Hinton of Demand Unlocked. His initiative was a great idea, and he was able to turn the concept into reality within just a few days, saving me a great deal of time and energy. More importantly, he helped present my professional background, experience, and credentials in a clear, polished, and compelling way.

Chapter 11: My Entrepreneurial Journey
I shared my experience setting up GlassXpert & Design alongside the lessons I learned. This journey provided me with invaluable insights into the challenges, limitations, and concerns that business owners encounter. Combining my coaching experience with my entrepreneurial background enables me to serve as a holistic life coach who can effectively support fellow entrepreneurs.
“Building a company from scratch is never easy but the journey is satisfying and fulfilling as the venture comes to life. Making it self-sustaining and successful demands dedication, significant effort and willingness to reassess and change if our strategies don’t deliver results. ”

Chapter 10: The Coachable vs The Uncoachable
Who are coachable? “Firstly, one must be open-minded and willing to listen to others’ points of view. Secondly, they must have a positive attitude towards criticism. Thirdly, they need introspective skills and willingness to reflect without blaming others. And finally, they need to be determined and disciplined to take action and implement the steps that they decide to take. ”

Belief in Yourself: Transforming Setbacks into Growth
If we encounter setbacks in life, we can transform them into opportunities for learning and growth. Surprisingly, these challenging moments often become powerful catalysts for self-discovery. Throughout my professional journey, I experienced two major setbacks that ultimately reshaped the direction of my life and led me to discover a deeper sense of purpose.
In 2011, I was demoted from Head of Equities and Derivatives Strategy to Senior Strategist. Then, in 2017, I was asked to transfer to the Compliance Department.
During the first setback, I chose to view the experience as a period of consolidation after having climbed the corporate ladder smoothly during an economic boom and equity market rally. I consciously practised positive reframing – seeking constructive perspectives within a negative event. By stepping into a role with fewer responsibilities, I gained:
1. A healthier work–life balance, allowing me to spend more time caring for my young children.
2. Greater freedom to focus on my passion for research and writing rather than management.
3. The resilience to navigate a challenging phase through reading, which strengthened my positive and constructive mindset and gradually transformed it into a more flexible and growth-oriented one.
The insights and wisdom I gained during this period have since become the foundation of my current coaching work.
When we feel stuck, it is easy to focus solely on what we have lost and overlook the possibility that such moments may be preparing us for the next stage of life. Without resilience, we cannot withstand future challenges. During that time, reading became my refuge. I was deeply inspired by one author – Annie Chiang – whose work planted the seed of becoming a writer myself, eventually leading me to publish my own book.
The second setback brought even greater clarity. I realised that I am too creative to thrive as a compliance officer. My natural inclination is to think outside the box, not within rigid frameworks. I sought advice from several colleagues: one encouraged me to accept the role for financial security, especially with young children; another cautioned that staying in a role I did not enjoy would ultimately make me miserable. Having already achieved financial stability, I chose to trust myself. I left my company, and not long after, exited the industry altogether.
With the knowledge and confidence accumulated over two decades, I felt excitement rather than fear about what lay ahead. More importantly, I began exploring my deeper purpose and the true meaning of my life.
Instead of allowing others to write the script of my life, I became determined to write it myself. I moved to Cambridge, founded a small venture, studied coaching, practised coaching and mentoring with Lancaster students, and published my first book, The Life Toolkit. I am deeply grateful to be actively creating a life that I truly enjoy.
After returning to Hong Kong in April, I registered my company, Winner Lee Mindvigation Limited, and am preparing to expand my coaching practice. I see this not as a destination, but as the early stage of a much larger journey – one that I am fully committed to continuing.
In The Life Toolkit, I share insights on the most valuable personal investment – the pursuit of knowledge – along with the key elements that shaped my professional growth and personal transformation.
Both the Kindle and paperback editions are now available on multiple Amazon marketplaces.
1. 更健康的工作與生活平衡,能夠投入更多時間照顧年幼的孩子;
2. 更大的自由,專注於我熱愛的研究與寫作,而非管理工作;

I am delighted to invite John R. Spender, the writing coach of A Journey of Riches (https://ajourneyofriches.com/), to read my book, The Life Toolkit. John is a writer, educator, writing coach, and filmmaker known for his work in storytelling, personal transformation, and human development.
I would also like to sincerely thank John for his thoughtful feedback on The Life Toolkit:
“Overall, your book feels honest and easy to connect with. It comes across as real-life experience rather than theory, which makes it more relatable and meaningful for the reader.
The structure is clear and well organised. The way it is divided into sections e.g. personal growth, mindset, relationships, and resilience makes it easy to follow. Readers can also experience different chapters depending on what they are seeking.
Also, the focus on mindset is strong throughout the book. Ideas like self-awareness, changing perspective, and taking responsibility are clear and consistent. These are simple but important messages.
The personal stories are a strong point. They help bring the ideas to life and make the content feel more human. It gives the reader something they can relate to.
I also like that the book encourages reflection. It invites the reader to think about their own life, values, and direction, instead of just giving advice.
Well done!”
John R. Spender – 《A Journey of Riches》的寫作教練 – 閱讀我的著作《The Life Toolkit》。

Career Mentoring
This year marks my fifth year of career mentoring at Lancaster University. As I have relocated back to Hong Kong, I have decided to step down from this role. However, I will continue to offer one-off informal chats for students who would like a casual conversation, during which I can share my experiences and insights from the finance industry. Going forward, I will be shifting my focus to providing more coaching in Hong Kong.
Mentoring Lancaster students over the past five years has been an incredible journey. It has been a truly two-way process – not only did I share my experiences and support students in their growth, but I also learned a great deal from the challenges they face today. For instance, to get noticed in job applications, students must carefully tailor keywords in their CVs to match job descriptions, as AI now plays a major role in the initial screening process. In reality, only a small proportion of CVs ever reach human reviewers. In addition, LinkedIn has effectively become an online version of one’s CV.
While supporting my students in their job searches in the UK, I also learned that AI is increasingly being used in preliminary interview stages before candidates meet human resources. To help them prepare, I shared around 30 of the most common interview questions, guided them to draft structured and meaningful responses, and asked them to record practice sessions on their phones so they could review and refine their delivery. In my philosophy, those who can present themselves well are often the first to secure job opportunities. Once students become more fluent and confident in articulating their strengths, their chances of being employed increase significantly.
I deeply empathise with the challenges and frustrations faced by the younger generation. As part of the mentoring process, I incorporated coaching elements to support self-discovery through MBTI, values, and strengths assessments. Rather than focusing solely on building industry knowledge, I consistently encouraged them to strengthen their interpersonal and intrapersonal skills, as well as essential qualities such as credibility, integrity, humility, empathy, discipline, accountability, adaptability, persistence, and patience – all of which are critical for long-term career success.
