✨Why I started Bryony’s Swimming Academy✨
I’ve loved teaching swimming for as long as I can remember. I started coaching at just 14 years old and gained my teaching qualifications at 16.
After working as a lifeguard, swimming teacher and in a nursery, I took the leap to become a full-time swimming instructor. Later, while working as a Swimming Coordinator, I discovered I loved organising lessons and supporting families just as much as teaching in the pool.
That’s when I knew I wanted to start my own swim school.
It all began with just me teaching at our Over pool, and before long Bryony’s Swimming Academy grew into the fantastic team of 7 we have today, with lessons across Over and Witchford. 🏊♀️
I still love teaching whenever I can, but I also love working behind the scenes to make sure every swimmer has the best possible experience.
Thank you to everyone who’s been part of the journey so far! 💙

💙 Hi, I’m Bryony, the owner of Bryony’s Swimming Academy.
I’m currently on maternity leave enjoying life with my two little boys, Rupert and Stanley, but swimming has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember.
I swam competitively until I was 18 with Cambridge Swimming Club’s top squad, training around 10 hours every week and spending most weekends racing at pools across the region.
In my early teens I achieved my County qualifying times, and later went on to gain several Regional qualifying times.
My favourite stroke has always been backstroke, closely followed by butterfly and front crawl. Breaststroke, however... let’s just say it was never my strongest! 😂 I’ve always preferred swimming fast!
I feel incredibly lucky that I now get to share my love of swimming with so many children and families through Bryony’s Swimming Academy. Helping swimmers grow in confidence, develop new skills and enjoy the water is what it’s all about. 💙

❗️ Did you see the news yesterday?
BBC research found that 28% of Year 6 children leave primary school unable to swim 25 metres.
Swimming isn’t just a hobby, it’s a vital life skill. Regular lessons help children build confidence, develop their swimming ability and learn important water safety skills 💙
We have places available starting from September across a variety of ages and abilities.

One of the best things you can do over the summer is keep swimming fun!
Not every swim needs to be about perfect technique. Play games, practise floating, collect dive toys, race mum or dad, and most importantly build confidence in the water.
Children learn best when they’re having fun 💙
What’s your child’s favourite thing to do in the pool?
