So I had these exact pair of jeans a year ago and I recently purchased them again on Vinted, two sizes smaller.
Now the focus here isn't to show you that I have been making lifestyle choices to be a certain size as that's never been my philosophy.
I'm going to share with you now what I have been doing because it literally has been through exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle changes alone with no quick fixes or fad diets.
So the biggest change for me has been the link between food and my emotions I.e I used to opt for the quick fix microwaveable meals, processed snacks and my biggest vice was alcohol.
Yes being trained for teaching about health and fitness, I knew these things and what I should be eating, but truthfully my self worth was low and in hindsight I wasn't fully investing in my self care properly.
So I started slowly with small, managable changes, increasing my daily water intake, reducing my alcohol consumption I.e. I don't touch the stuff during the week, and most importantly increasing my protein intake significantly which previously had been very low.
I've also been working with a personal trainer because I too needed accountability, growing knowledge and that emotional support and confidence boost from time to time to help keep me on track.
Finally I have been reviewing the supplements that I take for my age and lifestyle that is helping to support my training and recovery. This includes protein powder, creatine, collagen, fish oils, evening primrose oil and magnesium.
Training wise I come from a background of intense training and I enjoy being active because it helps support my emotional wellbeing confidence greatly. This may make sense to folk that what you feel like you are lacking in some areas of your life, it helps to make up and give you a sense of purpose and direction.
My training routine has been at least 4-5 times a week of cross fitness training: gym, Crossfit, aerial hoop, swimming, walking and strength training once a week with PT.
Obviously I appreciate that this type of lifestyle isn't for all and the costs of exercise, food, and supplements can add up and aren't affordable for some.
But you may see from my personal social media, that I don't lead an extravagant or exciting life. I spend alot of time at home or out and about on the cost or catching up with friends or family with activities that are either free or low cost. I choose to use any spare money that I have to invest in myself and my health because that is what is best for me.
Also it's really important to be aware of any triggers such as addictions, overtraining and for me giving myself space, finding time to relax and be aware of my self care has been really important.
It's about finding that balance. Knowing what works for you and not to measure or compare yourself to others.
So all I can say is that small, sustainable steps can make a big difference. Even if it's a regular walk, increasing your protein or water intake or trying a fitness class, I promise you over time and patience, changes will happen.
Keep investing in yourself and finding your thing or group that's gonna help support and carry you along the way.
Remember that your health (emotionally and physically) is your wealth and you are 100% worth the effort of investing in. β€ ###
