Funeral Arrangements – John Jukes

The funeral of John Jukes will take place on Friday 25th September at 1:30pm at Langstone Crematorium.

Everyone is welcome afterwards at Sudbrook Cricket Club to share memories and celebrate John’s life.

Across our three senior sides there were some fantastic performances, plenty of memorable moments and, of course, a Division 1 title to celebrate! 🏆

🥇 1st XI – DIVISION 1 CHAMPIONS

🌧️ Cancelled/Abandoned: 3

The 1st XI capped off a superb campaign by finishing top of Division 1 and being crowned champions.

🎯 Best bowling: J Voke – 5/45

The title-winning side showed great strength in depth too, with 21 different players representing the 1st XI during the season.

Another competitive season for the 2nds, finishing comfortably in the top half of the division.

The 3rds enjoyed another strong season, but perhaps even more importantly, they have played a huge role in the future of the club by introducing many of our youngsters to senior cricket this year.

Giving young players the opportunity to step into senior cricket, gain experience and develop alongside established players is a massive part of what the 3rd XI is all about, and it has been fantastic to see so many make that step this season. 💙💛

Unbelievably, after such a great summer, the weather has beaten us at the last hurdle. With thunder and heavy rain forecast, Sunday’s Big Bash is cancelled. We just needed the sunshine to last one more week! 😩🏏.......BUT....

The club will still be open as usual, with free pool and darts, plus music, so come down and join us for a drink. 💙💛

Sudbrook Cricket Club are saddened to hear of the passing of Life Member, former Secretary and Captain, John Jukes

John was Club Secretary at the time when the club secured its present location and played a major part in the development of the ground. He was heavily involved in the construction of the clubhouse and the preparation of the playing area, helping to establish the facilities that the club continues to enjoy today.

John gave many years of dedicated service to Sudbrook Cricket Club, both on and off the field, and his contribution to the club will always be remembered and greatly appreciated.

Our thoughts are with John’s family and friends at this very sad time.

Rest in peace, John. You will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all at Sudbrook Cricket Club.
