🏏🦆Our fund raising duck race has been moved back from Sunday 30 to Monday 31 August because of a poor weather forecast
It will now take place on the River Rhymney at approx 1330-1400 after the women’s and children’s game

🏏Machen CC held an under 11s presentation- juniors coach Jonny Cross reports

“Our Under 11s did exceptionally well this season, finishing 3rd in their league, winning five games and just missing out on promotion.
We recruited 7 new players this season and there were 4 awards at our presentation evening.

🏏Double success for Machen CC as the first XI beat Chepstow by 10 wickets to ensure a top half finish in Division 3 while the seconds won by 56 runs at Creigiau to move within a point of promotion from Division 11 👏🏼

☄️Opening bowler Mudassar Rehemy claimed fine figures of 5-19 in his nine overs, including three maidens, while Kumar Sadagopan took 4-30 and captain Raja Saddam Yousaf dismissed Chepstow’s top scorer O Thornhill, last out for 76. The visitors were all out 152 in 35.1 overs.

💥Machen cruised home in 30.4 overs for a crushing 10 wicket victory at 153-0. Kumar S hit 68 not out and Muaaz Shahid was 59 not out, both striking 10 fours and a six.

🔥A magnificent 7️⃣ wins on the bounce sees Machen in fourth place in the table after a slow start to the season.
“Credit to all the boys that we recovered from really deep trouble and hopefully will finish at our maximum on the table,” said Raja.

🔜Creigiau (away) is the final fixture for Machen 1st XI on August 29.

🆙Meanwhile Machen 2nd XI need just one point from the final match against champions Cardiff Titans, to ensure we go up alongside them.

✅That’s after a 56-run victory on a difficult batting wicket at Creigiau.
💥Machen made 166-8 in 40 overs in a team effort - captain Jonny Cross’s 24 was the top score, opener Will Owen and Delme Smith made 21 apiece while Gareth Hibbs, Dewi Thomas, Rhys Mellor-Cretney and Clive Fussell all reached double figures.
☄️Dewi led with the ball taking 5 wickets in the home reply of 110 all out, while there were 2 for Samir Khan, one apiece for Dan Leonard, Devinder Singh and Clive. Thanks to Emily Smith who fielded as a sub for 15 overs.
