The Draw for tomorrows Combined Captains Day is done.
It’s a Sh**un start as soon after 2pm as possible.
Format is “Greensomes” (both driver and then pick which one to play shot about. Each player’s drive must be used 6 times. Stroke play.)
Cards to be collected from club shop after 1.30pm.

Prize giving will follow immediately after play in clubhouse.

Friday night Mixed Fours

The final night of the Mixed Fours Competition was played on Friday 21st August.

Congratulations to all of the final weeks winners.

Thank-you to Lady Vice Captain Caroline and Match & Handicap Secretary Angela and her team for organising these competitions, which bring a great buzz and plenty of craic into the Club House.

Another great summer of Mixed Fours. We are all already looking forward to the 2027 Mixed Fours.

Yesterday was the culmination of the Junior Members Competitive season here at Bushfoot. The now traditional playing of the Cobblers Trophy, junior member & adult greensomes, was followed by the presentation of prizes.
The weather did us the honour of staying fair, the golf course was in great shape and we got a great support for the junior players.

It was Junior Captain’s Day today. Jnr Captain T Bustard entertained some guests & fellow members competed for his prizes. Thanks to all who came out to support him, The Captain for providing refreshments as the juniors teed off, Tommy for providing some half way sustenance, MA Catering for feeding the competitors after play and Tom Toms bakery for the cake 🍰🍰🍰🍰! (No food is safe around here today)

The Wasson brothers came out top of the charts today with younger brother Connor returning a tremendous score of 44pts.

A good day was had by all.

Rosie's 'Par-fect' Captain's Day

Congratulations and a huge thank you to Captain Rosie, the first woman to be Captain of Bushfoot Golf Club since 1899, on hosting a truly memorable Captain's Day last Saturday. To match this significant milestone in the Club's illustrious history, Captain Rosie staged an event more than worthy of the historic occasion and which will be long remembered.

Play got underway after Captain Rosie hit a ceremonial drive from the yellow markers on the first tee. As her 'Tommy Fleetwood' ball floated through the air before coming to rest in the middle of the fairway, Captain Rosie's voice floated through the airwaves on Radio Ulster's Your Place and Mine programme. It was wonderful to hear how excited Captain Rosie was to host Captain's Day and how privileged she feels to be Captain of our Club.

Almost 120 players took part in a stableford competition, which was played on a course in outstanding condition. Given the number and variety of beautiful prizes generously donated by the Captain, it was a keenly contested competition. Richard Brewster emerged victorious, scoring 42 points playing off a handicap of 11. The runner-up was Brendan O'Neill, who playing off 18 scored 35 points. The best gross was shot by Trevor McKendry.

Stephen Mitchell topped Division One, with Roger Wilson coming a close second. Division Two was won by Paul Caldwell and Ian Stone secured the runner-up spot. Geoffrey Qua took the top spot in Division Three, with Ian Blackstock in second place. Graham Love won the non-qualifiers' prize and Robert McLaughlin took home the Past Captains' Shield.

The longest drive contest was won by Damian Clyde and Lyle Harris took the nearest the pin prize. The best front nine and back nine prizes went to Kenny Gault and Matt Dougherty respectively. The winner of the Captain's Prize for the ladies' competition, held prior to Captain's Day, was Irene Algie. Thank you to everyone who took part and congratulations to all the prize winners.

After the golf, the Captain and her friends enjoyed a fabulous meal in the Clubhouse, followed by the prize-giving ceremony. They then danced the night away to the fantastic music provided by the legendary band, The Untouchables. It was a tremendous party, rounding off an incredible day.

Captain Rosie wishes to thank everyone who helped make her Captain's Day an outstanding success. She is very grateful for all the kind wishes, lovely cards and thoughful gifts received and for the generous donations to the her chosen charity, Air Ambulance NI.

Radio Ulster 'putts' Rosie's Captain's Day on Air

Having heard that a woman was elected Captain of Bushfoot for the first time since 1899, Eve Blair the presenter of Radio Ulster's Your Place and Mine programme recently visited the Club to find out more from Captain Rosie. Eve was very keen to hear about the history of the Club and Rosie's plans for her Captain's Day. Tune in to hear the full interview on Saturday morning between 8 and 9am, appropriately just as Captain's Day gets underway

Lady Captains Day Saturday 1st August 2026.

Congratulations and thank-you to Lady Captain Paula for hosting an excellent Lady Captains Day and Evening.

Well done and congratulations to all the winners especially Pamela Hayes for the Lady Captains Prize and Elaine McConnell for the Gross prize.

The day ran smoothly with the rain staying away and fun and laughter filling the club house. A great time was had by all.

So far the day has raised over £2000 for the Lady Captains chosen charity
“ The Macmillan Unit at Antrim Area Hospital.”

Thank- you to everyone who helped with the day and donated to the charity.
