Poppy Evans vs Olivia Reading B Class Pro am 47.6kg

highlights from

First Pro Am loss for Poppy on Saturday, dropping a points decision to UK no.5 Olivia Reading.

A great experience getting to headline a show for the first time against a very strong opponent!

Whilst it's always gutting not to get the result the lessons learned will be invaluable. Since her last loss in July 25 Poppy has beaten the Scandinavian no.1 amateur in Denmark, won her C class debut, stepped up to B Class and entered the UK top 10 at 47.6kg beating Kim Tran in Feb, won gold at the World Championships in Bangkok, climbed the UK rankings with a win over no. 8 Anna Vickers and then had a damn good crack at entering the top 5, all having only just turned 17! Just a little bump in the road, lessons learned, onto the next! ๐Ÿ‘Š

Thank you for the opportunity and big congrats on the win!

Tamzin Raison vs Mara Mendes FightSeries

B Class Pro Am 5x2mins

5 great rounds of very high quality Muay Thai last night but not our day, with Tamz dropping a points decision.

Training went well and weight cut was easy so all seemed good. Each round was close but Tamz was just not able to go up through the gears like she usually does, something was definitely just a little off. One of those days, it happens to the best sometimes.

Very very proud and happy to see Tamz back in action after a year and a half out. Hopefully those rounds shook off a bit of rust and she'll be back to 100% output next time out! I know what she is capable of and at her best she is absolutely world class!

Just a minor setback, many more big wins to come!

Thank you to Fight Series Jerome Adams for having us and big congratulations to Mara on a well deserved win!

Poppy Evans vs Anna Vickers
47.6kg B Class Pro Am

Mikey Finn
FightWHAM NOTORIOUS TV

A UK Muay Thai Rankings rankings bout for Poppy as she challenged UK no.7 Vickers.

We knew this would be a tough one! Anna is technically solid, comes to fight and was ranked above Poppy.

On Wednesday night Poppy felt unwell and was sick Thursday morning so a stressful couple days trying to recover in fight week! Thankfully by Friday she seemed OK so we were good to go.

Chilled as ever as she cheerfully walked out to The Kooks "She Moves in Her Own Way" Poppy entered the ring looking confident!

Round 1 was superb as she controlled distance landing short sharp combos.

More of the same in round 2 for a great start!

In round 3 we could see her energy was not quite at it's usual level but she managed to continue scoring the bigger scoring shots through 3 and 4 despite slowing her pace in what are normally her best rounds!

Anna was relentless in the 5th and Poppy was clearly tiring! She dug very deep to push through and despite probably losing the 5th she had done more than enough in the first 4 rounds to secure a big win!

Not her best ever performance but certainly a great test of her mental fortitude and ability to dig in and still get the job done โœ… Very proud of the resilience she showed in this one against very very good opposition!

Moving on up the pro ranks again and only just turned 17! In just 5 weeks time Poppy goes again on Project Knockout where she will be gunning to enter the UK top 5! Exciting times ahead for our latest female star ๐ŸŒŸ ๐Ÿ‘Š

Thank you Jai Yai Promotions for once again providing an amazing platform and giving huge opportunities to our young fighters! Forever grateful ๐Ÿ™

Alfie Eastwood Alfie Eastwood vs Aiden Bevan
58kg N Class Area Title

A title shot for Alfie after his previous strong showing at the last Jai Yai event!

Alfie danced his way into the ring as the DJ pumped Abba's Waterloo across the outdoor arena, getting the crowd in the mood classic Alfie style!

The first round was pretty even as both lads looked to test the waters.

By the end of round 2 Alfie was starting to take over and look the more comfortable of the two in the ring.

In round three he started to actually follow the advice of Hannah and Joe in the corner which allowed him to really take control of the contest, making space when needed and landing good body kicks without falling into the clinch.

In round 4 Alfie took total control, overwhelming his opponent with every shot in the book and finishing the job before the round was out!

Another outstanding performance from our crazy lad and a shiny new belt!

An absolute crowd pleaser with his all action style and his pre and post fight showmanship this kid has super star potential! โญ Excited to see what's next!

Top day for the team at Jai Yai 14 yesterday!

*Undercard results for Team Unit 1 Gym*

First up was Nojus. He didn't seem to be his usual aggressive self when the fight started and he fell behind early! A good bit of motivation from Hannah and Joe between rounds slowly got him back in the game and Nojus edged a split decision win! Congrats to Nojus for pulling it back to claim the victory despite clearly not feeling 100% on the day! ๐Ÿ’ช

Morgan was up next, contesting his 2nd ever bout! A nice patient start was soon rewarded when Morgan landed a perfectly timed over-hand right dropping his opponent for an 8 count in round 1. He followed up strongly to force another count. His opponent survived and slowly came back into the fight but Morgan held on to his early lead to take a hard earned unanimous win! ๐Ÿ‘

Tom was next, with the bout upgraded to C class last minute, so the shinnies came off! ๐Ÿฆต An unusual match up with his opponent giving away weight but having more experience. Tom started very strong, landing some absolute bombs. His opponent survived the early pressure as the fight went on and found a c***k in Tom's armour having big success with knees in the clinch. A loss for Tom this time but loads of improvement from his first fight and some clear direction on what needs improving for the next one! ๐Ÿ‘Š

A great start to the show for our team!
