Want to increase your BENCH PRESS? One of the biggest mistakes people make with strength training is expecting results too quickly. Strength isn’t built in six weeks. It’s built over months and years of consistent training, mastering the basics and gradually asking your body to do more.

When you first start training, progress can be rapid. You may add weight almost every week and feel stronger each session.

Some of these early improvements come from your nervous system becoming better at coordinating the muscles involved in a movement. This is known as intramuscular coordination: your body learns to recruit and organise more of the available muscle fibres, allowing you to produce force more efficiently.

That’s one reason beginners can get stronger quickly, even before they build a significant amount of muscle.

But as you become stronger, progress naturally slows. That doesn’t mean your training has stopped working. It means you’re getting stronger. The strongest people in the gym aren’t usually the ones who found the perfect programme, exercise or supplement. They’re the ones who have trained consistently for years, through both great sessions and difficult periods.

Let us create you the programme and training plan. We'll progress it at the right pace and ensure that you're staying consistent long enough to see what you’re capable of.

Does Jack’s story sound familiar? Have you been looking for a gym to keep you accountable? Looking to train in a group setting?

You’ve only got 4 months until the end of the year! Drop us a DM to get your journey started 💥

😧Does the idea of joining the gym seem daunting to you? Some big commercial gyms are busy, hectic places as they focus on high volume/high turnover of members. Our gym is the complete OPPOSITE!

We only train 1on1 with clients or in Small Group PT sessions with a maximum of 4 people. This means the gym ALWAYS has space, ALWAYS has someone there to train you, and it means that you can train more efficiently, in a welcoming environment.

But, instead of us talking about it, why not come see for yourself? Send us a message and we can organise a quick tour around.

STRENGTH IS A MARATHON, NOT A SPRINT

A 2.5kg improvement that once took a week might eventually take months.

That doesn’t mean your training has stopped working. It means you’re getting stronger.

The strongest people in the gym aren’t usually the ones who found the perfect programme, exercise or supplement. They’re the ones who have trained consistently for years, through both great sessions and difficult periods.

Good strength training is simple:

Squat. Push. Pull. Hinge. Carry.

Learn to do these movements well. Gradually get stronger. Eat properly. Recover. Repeat.

You don’t need to destroy yourself every session or test your maximum every week.

The goal isn’t to prove how strong you are today.

The goal is to build how strong you could be in five years.

At Phoenix Performance, we take that long-term approach with every member we coach.

Your training isn’t a collection of random workouts. We plan each stage of the process, monitor your progress and continually adjust your programme so that what you’re doing today builds the foundations for what comes next.

Because real strength isn’t about finding a shortcut.

It’s about having a plan, progressing at the right pace and staying consistent long enough to see what you’re capable of.

Play the long game.
