Absolutely no shock that we were made to work hard for the points today. Both teams having spells on top in the game.

After having a chance to go 4-1 up just before half time and not taking it, which likely kills the game….

To conceding early in the second half and giving Currie a massive boost, the boys had to dig in to see it out. A late goal disallowed for us stopped us from being able to breathe near the end but the boys stayed resilient.

Our midweek league fixture was hampered by our opponents unfortunately not being SYFA Comet compliant - therefore we were awarded the 1-0 win 3pts

A massive performance from the team - 11 fit players, with 2 subs at about 50% fitness to give us cover. Boys stood up and were counted from the first whistle.. a clean sheet and an absolutely ruthless 2nd half performance saw 3pts remain at the Albyn 🔴⚪️🔴

We’ve been quiet on here… but very busy and active playing weekend & midweek friendlies - along with a couple of tournaments whilst being at bare bones squad wise.

Great squad rotation, getting boys up to speed whilst also trying to nurse a massive injury list 🤕

But the seasons here and as always we will attack it head on whilst overcoming any hurdles thrown at us - a group with a great desire to develop and do the best they can as consistently as they can across a season

Some exciting news coming this week so keep your eyes peeled 😮 📝 but in the mean time, The boys were back hard at it on Thursday night with a session that had a bit of everything 🤩

Max effort medium distance timed run, short sharp possessional triangle rondos, 5 yard dual working short sharp technical touches and movements, 4v4+4 possession box with 3 minute games, 3 touch/pass conditions & diagonal outballs collecting points before finishing off with some shooting off both feet 🥵 ⚽️ 💯

As always 110% effort from the boys and they look forward to their first game in almost 3 weeks 😍

Another player it’s easy for us to take for granted - hasn’t just turned up week after week or month after month with his creative spark and vision for the team… but every year having now been our top assister every season of 7s, then 9s and now the first year of 11s. An impressive consistency, once again at any level!! 🙌🏻

Like our top goalscorer, this hasn’t just been done via playing in the front line of attack where Ellis has also found himself playing in centre midfield a lot the second half of the season where he’s utilised his ability to pop into pockets, get on half turns, use his vision or link up play and his goal scoring stats show the boy can finish too - whilst adding more physicality to his game this season too 🪄 💪

Well done Ellis, keep doing what you do 👏

It’s very easy to take things for granted that certain boys/players can continuously week after week come up with the goods at any level🪄

Goals through desire to do so with Right foot, left foot, head, set pieces.. doesn’t stop there either 😮 chips in with some fantastic assists too!

What’s even more impressive is that this has been done not just from striker and wide areas, having played a large part of the 2nd half of the season in midfield where he shows off his engine and battle abilities too - absolutely not a 1 trick player!

Well done Cole, absolutely the least you deserved from this season award wise 👏

🔴⚪️🔴 MOST IMPROVED POTY - Rhys McWilliams 🔴⚪️🔴

Well, what can we say about Rhys… not a nicer more polite lad on the planet 🙌🏻

A kid who’s strength, ball winning ability and coachability - has saw him grow in confidence, enabling him to grow his game travelling with the ball and picking effective forward passes to feet or clever balls into channels for attackers to latch onto. ⚽️

Week on week he’s now growing in confidence, technical ability and realising he’s got the strength and power to mix it with the best in the league.. as we frequently say between ourselves as coaches ‘he doesn’t realise his own strength and pace/power!’

Well done Rhys, let’s go again this season 💪

Is there a better recognition than that of your team mates?

Brandon our ever present and commanding voice in defence the first half of the season and a noticeably quieter team without him - which we found out after he suffered a horrific collar bone break. Another reason for his team mates recognition was the fact he missed no training or games during injury where he carried on being that vocal commander from the sidelines. 🤩

Oliver with the toughest job of them all in goals! Kid playing years beyond himself after taking on those tough months way before 11s started wondering how he would ever fill those 11s goals.. He’s taken it in his stride, going from strength to strength especially since Christmas being absolutely MASSIVE! From penalty saves, to almost looking like he’s got hands of glue.. he’s thrown in a massive influx in his distribution too. ⚽️ 🧤

With everything I’ve said above it’s of no surprise they’ve been instrumental in keeping 34 clean sheets in their first year of 11 a-side 😍 💯

🔴⚪️🔴 Louis Johnston - PARENTS POTY 🔴⚪️🔴

A thoroughly deserved bit of recognition for Louis. Having Joined us from Salveson D2 last year, it feels like he’s been with us forever.

Ever present in the team bringing top football IQ wherever he plays - he’s chipped in with double figures in goals & assists playing in an advanced role down the left in the first half of the season. Followed up by helping keep a growing list of clean sheets in the second half of the season seeing him play LCB frequently.

Well done Louis, a worthy winner of this award 👏
