A huge thank you to Sensei Richard Blackwell and Sensei Pierre Citti for an outstanding BBK Aikido course in Lambourn last weekend. Excellent instruction, challenging practice, great camaraderie, and plenty of inspiration from seeing Sensei Pierre’s skill and energy on the mat.

Congratulations to the young students who received BBK course prizes, and thanks to everyone who helped make the weekend such a success.

The next opportunity to train with Sensei Pierre will be in Belgium on 2–4 October. If you’re interested in joining the trip and sharing travel arrangements, get in touch. Highly recommended!

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Sensei Rod Hayward.
Rod was a founding inspiration behind Bushido Budo Kai and a true mentor and friend to so many of us. His kindness, wisdom, and passion for martial arts will always be remembered. Our thoughts are with Gill and the family at this difficult time.

Not long to go now. We look forward to welcoming you at this years fundraising Martial Arts Day in Bristol.

The funeral service for Sensei David Chappell will take place on Monday 29th September at 12.45pm at Canford Crematorium, Canford Lane, Bristol, BS9 3PQ.

Family flowers only, please. Donations kindly received in David’s memory in support of NSPCC, donations can be made online through F H Halliday & Son Ltd or in person on the day.

Following the service, friends and family are warmly invited to join us for the wake at Henbury Golf Club, Henbury Hill, BS10 7QB. To assist with catering, we would be grateful if you could let us know if you are able to attend, please comment here or send a message.

In Loving Memory

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Hon. President Sensei David Chappell, after a long-fought battle with dementia.

David will be deeply missed by his family, friends, students, and all who had the privilege of knowing and training with him. His legacy, passion for martial arts, and the values he instilled will continue to live on through Bushido Budo Kai.

Funeral details will be shared in due course for those who wish to pay their respects.

Rest peacefully, Sensei. You will never be forgotten.
