As an equine physiotherapist, maintaining healthy, mobile joints is a key part of keeping horses comfortable and performing at their best. Nutrition and supplementation can play an important role alongside regular physiotherapy.

✔️ Support healthy joint function and mobility
✔️ Help manage inflammation associated with training, competition or ageing
✔️ Aid recovery following exercise or injury
✔️ Support long-term comfort in older or harder-working horses

🐴 Keep your horse performing at their best this September!
Regular physiotherapy isn’t just for injured horses—it’s an important part of keeping every horse healthy, comfortable, and performing to their full potential.
Routine treatments can help:
✔ Improve flexibility and movement
✔ Enhance performance
✔ Support long-term health and longevity
✔ Reduce muscle soreness and stiffness
✔ Spot subtle changes before they become more serious issues
If you’ve been out competing all season, it’s also worth considering the impact of the firmer ground over the summer months. Harder going can place extra strain on joints, muscles, and soft tissues, even in fit and experienced horses—making a post-season check-in especially valuable.
Investing in regular maintenance now can help prevent bigger problems later and keep your horse feeling their best heading into autumn and beyond.
📩 September bookings are now available—but the diary is filling up fast!

Is your horse feeling the effects of the hard ground? ☀️🐴
Let’s face it a little bit of mud would be lovely right now!
Whether they’ve:
• Been working on firmer ground
• Had a busy competition season
• Just enjoyed a fun-filled week at camp
• Love to play in the field more than you’d like him too
• Or are maybe feeling the heat a little more as they get older…
A physiotherapy session could help.
It’s also worth remembering that the horse’s body is designed as a whole system of spring and suspension. From the hooves and limbs, through the fascial chains, back, thoracic sling and core, every part works together to absorb impact, store energy, and create efficient, fluid movement.
The thoracic sling (the muscular system that supports the trunk between the forelimbs) plays a key role in this, helping to lift and stabilise the forehand. However, when the ground is hard, concussion increases through the entire body with every step—not just the shoulders and forelimbs, but also through the back, hindquarters, and deep stabilising muscles that support the horse’s posture and movement.
When this natural spring and suspension system is repeatedly challenged, horses may start to compensate. Over time this can contribute to:
• Generalised muscle tightness
• Reduced elasticity through the body
• A loss of fluidity in stride
• Stiffness through the back, shoulders, or hindquarters
• A horse that feels less “through” or comfortable in their work
Equine physiotherapy can:
✨ Relieve muscle soreness and tension throughout the whole body
✨ Improve comfort and range of movement
✨ Support recovery after increased workload or concussion
✨ Help maintain mobility in older horses
✨ Support the thoracic sling and the body’s natural spring and suspension system
✨ Encourage more efficient, balanced movement
Sometimes the small signs—feeling a little stiff, less willing to move forwards, or taking longer to recover—are your horse’s way of telling you they could benefit from a little extra support.
I have limited availability over the next few weeks, so if you’ve been thinking about booking your horse in for a check-up or treatment, now is a great time to get in touch.
📩 Send me a message to discuss whether physiotherapy would benefit your horse.
