If you are looking for a non-clinical approach to healing and are curious as to how horse behaviour can help us on our journey then my coaching style may be just the thing you are looking for!

The thing that makes my coaching unique is the wisdom I’ve learnt from a lifetime connecting with horses. This has shaped a truly holistic approach which emphasises the importance of body, emotion, mind and spirit being in alignment.

It’s not all talking! In fact, some of the greatest light bulb moments often come from body awareness and times of introspection! And if you prefer to be out in nature rather than inside, we can integrate this into your sessions.

Before you embark on any coaching I offer a 30 minute Discovery call, which gives us the opportunity to learn more about each other and decide if we have a good connection.

You can learn more here https://rosiewithey.co.uk/coaching/ or, if you want to have a chat please do get in touch and this can be arranged at the earliest convenience.

My past month has been very rich in self-reflection, self-awareness and self-development, for which I’m hugely grateful. The journey continues!

Here are a few questions to inspire your own self-reflection: -

🐎 What am I not giving myself permission to be or to do?
🐎 How can I be more compassionate with myself?
🐎 What are my values?
🐎 How am I living in accordance with my values?
🐎 If I am embodying (insert a value) how will I go about my day?
🐎 How can I be more true to myself?

I hope you have the weekend you desire without feeling like you have to earn the rest or fun!

Why You Need to Give Yourself Permission to Be Who You Really Are 26/08/2026

Why You Need to Give Yourself Permission to Be Who You Really Are
BY MELISSA CAMARA WILKINS

"IMAGINE THAT YOU’RE GETTING READY TO START YOUR DAY.

You have your coffee mug in your hand. You peek out the window to see what the weather looks like, and then you head to your closet to get dressed.

But you don’t stress out about which outfit to wear, because your clothes are just clothes, not armor to protect you from other people’s opinions.

And later, when you see other people, you don’t wonder what the right thing to say is, because your belonging does not depend on whether they agree with the words that come out of your mouth. You don’t worry about being too much or too loud or too quiet or too anything.

You don’t waste your time trying to fit in, because you are in the business of creating belonging.

Instead, you bring your whole self wherever you go, because that is how you move through the world: confident, grounded, comfortable in your own skin, with an understanding of who you are and what you’re about.

That’s what we all want, right?"

One interesting area I have found this need for permission creeping in is my social life. Recently I had a week where I went to lunch three times. Each time was lovely, I am blessed to have wonderful people in my life who I enjoy spending time with. The first occasion was with my mother-in-law and the second was after taking my own mum to run some errands, so in my mind I justified taking time away from chores and work to make sure these two elderly women felt cared for. However, the third occasion was purely for social reasons, to spend time with a friend and enjoy the sunshine, and I found myself feeling somewhat uncomfortable about doing something in the middle of the day to do something solely for pleasure with nothing to justify it.

That evening I sat down with my journal, as I often do at the end of the day, and I wrote “What did I enjoy about today?”. The list included going somewhere different, lovely food, spending time with a likeminded person and learning something new from them as they were talking about a different culture. This exercise helped me tap into several things that I really want to do with this new chapter of my life. I love to explore new places, but I also get such a joy when I listen to other people describe places that I have yet to see for myself. This realisation led me to google “travel talks” to explore the different ways I might be able to learn more about these parts of the world. My friend and I also talked about books, and this reminded me that I have a desire to join a book club, which I also wrote down in my journal. (NB I’ve since joined a Book Club!)

My point to sharing this is that this particular journal exercise didn’t focus on whether I am “worthy” of taking time out to enjoy lunch with a friend, I actually reflected on what it was I enjoyed about it. I now know what to do in the future to stop thoughts of “should I be doing this when I could be doing something more productive?” and change them to “when I go out I will experience something new with someone I am interested in talking to”.

I’m changing the narrative from having to justify taking time out “just” to socialise to experiencing something that will light me up and from which I might learn.

“You don’t need anyone else’s permission to be yourself, to be happy, to pursue your passions or to live the life you’ve always dreamed of.

The only permission you need is your own.”

Book recommendation: (W)holy Human by Abbie Tagney

I first met Abbie when she joined my Connect workshop as a client back in 2017. Abbie then attended the NOW Programme and Medicine Horse Way Apprenticeship with me to become an Equine Facilitated Learning Coach. She has become a great friend and esteemed colleague and is also a great coach.

Abbie has spent the past year dedicating her time to writing this book. I'm totally inspired by her journey and wisdom and wanted to let you know that her book has now been published and will be available in September.

Take a look at this link to read the Synopsis here

Since retiring from my employed job I have had the space to reflect on what I offer to my own clients and one of the things I really love is working with people and their own horses. EFL is a wonderful way to learn how to be more authentic in the relationships with the humans in your life but also in your relationship with your horse.

Horses are highly sensitive to the slightest change in the emotions of the others in their herd, which means they can sense inconsistency between our feelings and our actions and help us to recognise when we are not being true to ourselves.

Simple, mindful interactions with them and sometimes even just being in their presence can bring buried patterns of belief and behaviour into conscious awareness. Then we can bring ourselves into balance on all levels of mind, body, emotion and spirit, reconnect with our natural desire to play and explore, let go of our mental chatter and flow with our emotions

If you would like to discuss this possibility please get in touch - [email protected]

"Somehow by acknowledging my vulnerabilities and using the messages from my body along with my connection with the horses, I have been able to locate and experience uncomfortable feelings and allow them to be released. In so doing I now feel more alive, more congruent with my true self and more confident both in my professional and personal life."

This testimonial is from Helen and she is referring to the Connect with your Authentic Self Workshop that she attended some years ago.

If you are interested in joining my ‘Connect with your Authentic Self’ in the Autumn, please do get in touch. If I have enough interest, I will explore the opportunity for this to take place in November at Trealy Farm, Monmouth.
