Tonight we played our final league game of the season in the B&D Div 2 when we travelled to Victoria Park in a rearranged game. Which would have been played in sunny warm conditions on the original date rather than the wet conditions this evening.

With a successful Somerset County League season now at a end it’s that time of the season that I would like to pass on thanks to a few people behind the scenes that make my job & the teams job so much easier.
Firstly thank you to Bobbie Monks who arranges the after game food for both teams.
And has been supported for the last 3 seasons by Deb Davis, Tracey Price & Lauren O Reilly.
Thank you to the following ladies that prepare the ‘B’ teams food when they are at home.
Caroline Williams, Helen Burridge & Trish Badman.
Next thank you to our bar staff Ange Hazell & Deb Davis who keep our drinks topped up without us leaving the green.
Also to Geoff Sibley who has stepped in when it’s been busy or ran it if people have not been available.
Thank you to Avon Sportground Maintenance for preparing a first class green all season.
Matt, Sam and team have worked hard all season in near drought conditions to give us a green we are proud off.
All of the above have been a massive part of our success over the last 3 years and to be honest we could not do it without them.
When we entered the league 3 years ago I really don’t think we envisaged we could win 3 back to back titles and next season take our place amongst the best teams in Somerset.
But we have progressed season on season and have close knit bunch of players who just don’t know when we are beaten.
The 3 games that probably won Prem 2 for us were away to North Petherton, Wedmore & Taunton Deane. Matches played on tough greens & won by the smallest of margins.
So thanks to all the players who have been involved over the last 3 years for the ‘A’ team it’s been a pleasure to Captain & play with you all.
Thank you to the players that have been involved in the ‘B’ team and made it a double league winning season. Having the 2nd team has made it easier for players to step up to the ‘A’ team when needed.
Thanks to Dave Phillips & Steve Yates who have Captained the team throughout the season.
So that’s the 2026 season finished. We don’t know what 2027 will bring but you can guarantee both teams will give it everything next season and we look forward to playing new teams.
Again thank you to everyone that has helped out this season & before.
Cheers
Kev
