We are passionate about bikes and cycling. Holy Spokes is an independent bicycle shop and bike workshop. We specialise in bicycle servicing, bike repairs, bike maintenance and wheel building. From old commuter bikes and boneshakers to high end road bikes, mountain bike suspension, internally geared hubs and ebikes - our workshop is well equipped for almost every bike. Don’t worry folk, we’ve got you. 🤣 Bring your bike in, we don’t expect you to know exactly what’s up with it. 💪🏻 And the best thing is, once we’ve checked it over we’ll explain what needs fixing in a way that makes sense!!

This was Dexter’s Bob Jackson Vigorelli - it’s just sold! He bought it to build a drop bar fixed gear audax bike, ideal for longer rides.
Cool bits on it are Nitto stem and seat post, Chris King headset, and handbuilt wheels.
It’s off to its new home in London but can’t miss out on sharing some pics with you guys first. 🍊

Buying a second hand bike is the cheapest way to get on the road, but i’s also the easiest way to inherit someone else’s problem.
Here’s what to check before you buy:
Check for rust,
Make sure the frame isn’t broken or damages
Test ride it to see if it feels right, the gears all work, and the brakes are functioning

The most common problems we see on cargo bikes are related to breaks.
1. Cargo brakes wear out faster because cargo bikes are heavy carrying… cargo. 📦
2. The brakes the bikes come with from the factory are sometimes not quite enough for the load. We like to replace the weaker brakes with hydraulic ones, or upgrade existing hydraulic brakes for stronger ones. 💪🏻
3. We recommend brake pads every 3-4 months. 📅
4. This costs around £70 for labour and parts. We’ll always break down the cost and give you a quote before we start. 🤗
