🌊 An Important Message from Seabirds CIC 🌊
Hello lovely swimmers, customers and supporters 💙
It’s with heavy hearts that we share that Seabirds Community Interest Company will be closing in Spring 2026. This hasn’t been an easy decision, but sadly it’s become inevitable — there’s more money going out than coming in, and we can no longer continue at a loss.
Since 2018, we’ve welcomed over 7,000 sea swimmers into the Salty Seabirds community, delivered 941 lessons and tasters, and donated nearly £25,000 to environmental and sea-related causes. 🌊💪 Many of our lessons were free or subsidised — something we’re incredibly proud of.
Despite exploring every possible avenue — fundraising, grants, new lesson models — the challenges of rising costs and reduced donations have made it impossible to continue.
💙 The Salty Seabirds sea swimming community will continue, but not under the Seabirds CIC name.
We’re so grateful to everyone who’s supported our mission over the years — from joining a swim, buying from our shop, or taking part in the Arctic Tern Winter Challenge. You’ve helped make the sea more accessible to so many people.

Some great news for Seabirds CIC - today we received a grant from Chalk Cliff Trust to continue our community swim project 🥰🎊🥳 Planning meeting Friday to get this back up and running asap! thank you Chalk Hill Trust!
Also good news is that our wonderful community swimmers - who were total beginners when they started with us remember - are getting together and practicing at the local pool and continuing to make progress by themselves 🤩
It will be fantastic to get some more people into the pool learning to love swimming and being in water 🐠🐳🦑
