The difference between following a workout… and following your workout? 👇
At Dynamo Gym, our strength programming is built around you.
✔️ Your current ability
✔️ Your goals
✔️ Your injury history
✔️ Your lifestyle
✔️ Your progress
No second guessing what exercises to do. No wondering if you’re lifting too much or too little. No copying someone else’s plan and hoping it works.
You need a plan that’s written for you. One that takes into account where you’re starting from, your goals, your lived experience, your schedule, and even the days when life gets in the way.
And coupled with the beauty of having coach with you in every session…. You’re never left to figure it out on your own. Your training has a purpose, it progresses as you do, and if something needs changing, you’ve got support there to make those adjustments.
Training becomes so much less stressful when you can stop guessing around what to do and just focus on showing up.
Because the best programme isn’t the one that works for everyone, it’s the one that’s built for you. 💪

The relationship you have with your body is the longest one you’ll ever have.
Why not make it your greatest love story?
Your body is your home. The vessel that carries you through every experience, challenge, and triumph of your life.
We beg of you, stop treating it like something to be punished.
Start treating it like the absolute love of your life. And give it the gift of strength 💪
Here’s why we love strength training. Not because it changes how your body looks, but because it changes how you relate to your body.
Every workout is a reminder that your body can adapt, grow, and become more resilient. You learn to trust it, care for it, and appreciate it for all it’s capable of.
And as we age, strength training becomes one of the greatest acts of self-love, helping preserve muscle, bone health, mobility, and independence for decades to come.
The goal isn’t perfection. It’s building a relationship with your body rooted in respect, trust, and gratitude.

Of course we care… probably a bit too much at times 😆
But seriously, we know there are so many reasons to talk yourself out of coming to the gym.
You tell yourself:
• “I don’t know what I’m doing.”
• “I don’t have the matching workout sets I see on Instagram.”
• “I need too many modifications.”
• “I’m too old.”
• “I won’t be able to keep up.”
• “Everyone will be judging me.”
• “That’s not a place for people like me.”
If you’ve ever had any of those thoughts, you’re not alone.
The fitness industry has done a pretty good job of making movement feel like an exclusive club. And social media has painted a picture of what a “gym person” is supposed to look like, wear, and behave.
But the truth is this: there is no mould you have to fit to belong here.
You don’t need experience.
You don’t need the perfect outfit.
You don’t need to have it all figured out.
You don’t need to be fitter, younger, stronger, or more confident before you walk through the door.
You just need to show up as you are.
Our job is to meet you there, to support you, and make sure you never feel like an outsider.
Because this space was never meant for just one type of person…. it was meant for everyone 🧡
(Pssst… that means you!)

💪 STRENGTH: The Most Misused Word in Fitness
Everyone wants to get stronger. But strength isn’t just muscle.
Strength is your ability to produce high levels of force against a heavy load. While muscle size matters, early strength gains are mostly driven by your nervous system becoming better at recruiting muscle fibres and coordinating movement.
That’s why beginners often get much stronger before they look noticeably bigger.
🧠 Your nervous system acts like a set of safety brakes. It constantly asks:
• Is this safe?
• Is this worth the energy cost?
Strength training gradually teaches your body that producing more force is both safe and necessary.
🏋️ Over time, muscle growth contributes too. More muscle + better neural efficiency = more strength.
🔄 Researchers have even observed strength increases in untrained limbs when only one side is trained, highlighting just how important neural adaptations are.
🏆 What does strength training generally look like?
• Low reps (≤5)
• Heavy loads
• Mostly submaximal effort (~2 reps in reserve)
• Compound lifts often work best
Strength is a skill. Practice matters.
💥 Strength vs Hypertrophy
Strength training is optimised for force production.
Hypertrophy training is optimised for muscle growth.
Both build muscle and strength, they simply emphasise different adaptations.
🚫 Constantly training to failure isn’t ideal for strength development. Most of the year should be spent accumulating quality reps, managing fatigue, and refining technique.
📈 The takeaway:
Strength isn’t just muscle mass.
It’s your nervous system, technique, muscle size, and ability to express force efficiently.
Getting stronger is the long-term process of teaching your body:
“This is safe.”
“This is necessary.”
“Adapt accordingly.”

We’ve been in this game for a collective 30ish years now (wowzers!), and we’ve learned a helluva lot since starting out.
Trial and error, formal higher education, informal learning, client coaching, and our own curiosity means we have amassed so much knowledge around training and our approach to exercise.
If we could go back in time, this is what we’d tell ourselves… this and the winning lotto numbers 😆
