Here at Bridgnorth Golf Club we pride ourselves on running a welcoming club that not only boosts a picturesque 18 hole course, that is a delight to play and covers varying types of terrain. But we are also passionate about encouraging anyone to take up this wonderful game. We hold regular open events, taster sessions and lessons with our pro golfer Steve. You needn’t worry about never having played or having limited experience, we have a clear pathway that you can follow to teach you the basics and help your confidence grow. Soon you will be spending a sunny afternoon playing a round of golf and then follow it up with a drink and something to eat in the club house catching up with the other members.

The County Open Championship was held at Shifnal GC and played over 36 holes with amateurs and Professionals taking part for the best score of the day where 46 below 5 handicap played.
The winning gross score of 146 was Josh Charnock Professional of Shifnal Golf Club. The best Amateur score was Ryan Greenwood (Kington GC) 147 in 2nd place was Callum Brown (Bridgnorth) 150.
3rd Craig Simmons (Shifnal) also 150 and 4th place went to Ross Magill (Ludlow) 151.

A few photos from the James Goulden Memorial Golf Day.
James sadly passed away early this year and the golf day was to raise money for the Charity Mind and Highley Cricket Club.
We had 38 teams enter the competition.
Mens Captain, Jim Graham, opened the presentation and James Goulden's Daughters, Lil and Pip James (known by most as Goldie) presented the cup to the winners.
There was a raffle which raised roughly £1600. There was also an auction on the evening, and a silent auction which ends on Sunday.
Top honors went to the team of Kevin Davidson, Mark Hogan, Michael Hogan, and Ryan Philipps, who took home the victory with a stellar score of 56.8 but somehow the golf didn't matter, just taking part!

Bridgnorth golf club had the pleasure of hosting the 2026 Shropshire Ladies County Autumn Meeting

The Shropshire Ladies County Autumn Meeting was held at Bridgnorth Golf Club, where an excellent field of 49 players represented 13 clubs. The host club, Bridgnorth, was particularly well represented with 16 competitors.

Trophy Winners

Marjorie Wynne Thomas Memorial Trophy (Handicaps up to 20.4)

Awarded to the player with the best aggregate gross score across the Summer and Autumn Meetings, the trophy was won by Trish McGloin (The Shropshire) with a combined score of 181. Runner-up was Angela Hinton (Bridgnorth) with 183.

Marjorie Wycherley Cup (Handicaps 20.5–40.0)

Presented to the player recording the best gross score at either the Summer or Autumn Meeting, this year’s Autumn Meeting winner was Vanessa Statham (Bridgnorth) with a gross 98. Runner-up was Lynne Andreae (Bridgnorth) with 101.

Wynne Corrie Cup (Handicaps up to 40.0)

Won by Wendy Hudson (Lilleshall Hall) with a 75 net

Ritchie Veterans Salver (Handicaps up to 40.0, age 50+)

Awarded to Suzanne Huxley (Bridgnorth) with a 77 net

Trish, Vanessa, Wendy and Suzanne will receive their trophies at the Shropshire Ladies County AGM in November.
