Mission accomplished. I promised myself we’d go for our first hack on the hill EVER, before the ‘summer’ was out. Weather, mood (mine and hers) months of prep (a more accomplished rider than I showing Arianwen the ropes) and perfect es**rt, meant we FINALLY ventured out with great success. Long time coming, but patience so often is rewarded when it comes to the donkeys. 🎠

A white horse lives in this field. Can you see her faint outline?!

We’ve had some ‘interesting’ weather! It’s a real treat when your client has a barn big enough to do a saddle fit, a Defender strip down and a dumper truck brake disc repair at the same time!
Two clients very happy with their new saddles on their new ponies 🖤🖤 Despite the weather 🌧️❄️

Taking orders for my Newmarket Tote. Made from repurposed saddlery and woollen equestrian blankets, each one is unique and comes with its own patina through use in the materials’ previous life.
This number is £80 but will increase in price for lined and zipped versions. It’s up to you what finish you would like!

Synthetic flock. Very old synthetic flock. Hard, lumpy and squeaky. Aside from the fact there’s a multitude of types and ages of flock in this saddle which is not ideal, I feel uncomfortable about the fact that the only way this stuff is going is landfill, and it’s not biodegradable. Natural wool is a biodegradable product that can be returned to the land when its life as saddle flocking is over.
Natural fibre bi-product vs synthetic, petrochemical purpose made product.

After a stressful couple of months, we’ve now got a diagnosis and some answers as to why Madame Bog has been so miserable and quite frankly, a ‘challenge’ to be around. X-rays revealed she has the ankles of an 80 year old and an ulcerated stomach to match. Bit unfair when she’s only 7 years old! However, she’s already responding well to treatment and I got to bring her home today. Now it’s time to try and get those hocks to finish fusing and hooves crossed, she’ll be happier for it. Think we were both pleased to be back! Thank you George Anderson for your professionalism as always in getting us about, and thanks to the team at Abbey Equine for your sympathetic care and support of both of us.
