Did me in the rain catch your attention? 🥲

I know I’m brushing over some points here and you might be thinking ‘WAIT A MINUTE, I need more info on this’

So I’m going to use that thought you have as a little reminder.

People make content around their own opinion, beliefs and ways of doing things.

While many of us have no intention of sharing misinformation, sooo many people do, and make their opinion sound like fact.

So if they make it sound like fact, it’s your job to do your research before believing it/acting on it. (Plus a little background check on them🥲)

We should know this about social media by now.

So yes, go and research anything I’ve said here you want to know more about it.

Or even ask me and I can expand on it!

And another little reminder for you on this fiiiine Saturday, relating to some of those things…

➡️You don’t need to do everything perfectly to live a healthier lifestyle
➡️Social media is making you think you do
➡️That’s what’s holding you back
➡️We can keep things simpler and be happier

Happy Saturday!💖

If you don’t have a training plan (aka you don’t know what you’re doing when you get to the gym), you’re going to find it very hard to stick to your training.

If you don’t have a planned training schedule/routine (aka no set days, just get to the gym as and when), you’re going to find it very hard to stick to your training.

Just over a week out of routine and I am CRAVING some structure back in my training.

That’s what’s made me successful in being consistent for years:
👉🏻Training days and times planned
👉🏻Having a training programme
👉🏻Sessions blocked in my calendar

And this results in me turning up every week, and got me to a point where not completing a session isn’t even a passing thought.

➡️The training programme - that’s going to take some thought / finding a pre-made programme / getting some sort of personalised programming/coaching.

➡️ But once that’s in place, it’s all about your schedule and that’s down to you (although I looove to help my clients with this bit!)

You can say that sounds boring or you don’t have time to think about it, but this took me half an hour of having a really good think and play around with my schedule and this is going to serve me for months.

It really shouldn’t take that long either, I’m just a control freak and my Google calendar is like my hobby 🤪🤪

If you work shifts and your schedule is always changing, you can still have a rough idea then take 5 minutes at the start of your week to slot your sessions in your calendar.

So yes, it’s going to take some actual committment on your part if you want to be successful in your training and reach your goals, but trust me when I say it is so worth it and that’s when things can get a bit more exciting, instead of saying ‘I just need to get to the gym next week’ for the 45th week in a row 🥲🥲

Let’s keep things simple. To see muscle growth (that thing you need to look ‘toned’ ‘sculpted’… whatever word you want to use), you need to be working hard.

Sooo lemme help you! An easy way to make sure you’re working hard enough is to consider ‘how many more reps could I do with this weight?’

If you could do another 5 or 10, I’d say up the weight. We want that number to reduce to 1, 2, 3 at most.

Some will say to go to absolute failure every set, every exercise. I’d say that’s preference, it’s not necessarily needed for every single exercise in your session, that’s a lot of mental and physical energy.

So, close to failure is exactly this - 1-2 reps in reserve.

There’s not one definitive answer to what you ‘should’ do, because it does depend on your goal, how many exercises you’re doing in a session, how many sessions per week… I could go on!

And how many reps you should do? Again, you could choose to apply this rule to 30 reps, buttttt that seems silly unless you want to be in the gym for 5 hours.

Use this as a general guide if you’re not sure, it’s a great starting point!!

And if you have absolutely no idea about what your programme should look like, girlyyyy that’s all part of 1:1 coaching - creating a programme that works for you, plus telling you exactly how to execute it, and giving you the knowledge to take with you for life 💪

4.5 years! That’s how much time is between these pictures. It takes a long time to build muscle, not necessarily this long, but we’re talking years.

And this isn’t one of those scenarios where I was still a teenager and ‘came into my body’ in this time 🤣🤣

Age 24/25 to age 28/29.

This muscle was built through years of lifting heavy weights consistently, and as you can see I’m not ‘bulky’ now…at least I don’t think I am?

I do think ‘bulky’ looks different to different people and if I was to flex my muscles I’d hope you’d tell me I do look bulky 🤪

But in all seriousness, we need to accept that building strength and muscle to look more defined and ‘toned’ does take time.

If you are still chasing instant gratification, not trusting the process and changing your training every few weeks because ‘nothing is working’…

…and/or eating as low as 1000 calories 😵‍💫 then it’s time to change up your approach.

This being said, if you get consistent you will absolutely feel and see changes within a matter of months! But I just want to remind you that the fitness influencer’s body you so desperately want will not happen within a few months.

I SOOO want you to gain muscle and strength, but it also doesn’t come with lack of knowledge.

If you don’t have the understanding and foundational knowledge of how to train, eat and just generally how muscle building works, there’s a high chance you’ll keep accidentally self sabotaging and not doing the right things for long enough to see change.

My advice to you would be to stop looking for a quick result and learn the how and why, for this to stick with you for LIFE! Yes, life, you should be lifting weights for life.

This is exactly what I help my 1:1 clients with, so they can actually take these things with them for the long run.

If you’re ready to learn, to know how to train for your goals and how to eat properly to support your training, you know where to find me. DM me or link in my bio to have a chat about online coaching I have spaces to start in September/October 💬
