A massive thank you to everyone that supported the MacMillan coffee morning last Saturday. We raised £910.70👏👏an amazing amount so thank you again to everyone..we had some delicious home baking..fab raffle prizes & donations & great supporters.

On Sunday we had our closing day match ..men v ladies. Another good afternoon and a great finish to what’s been a good season.

Saturday 12th September
MacMillan coffee morning ..9.30-11.15am everyone welcome. Lots of home baking and a raffle. All money raised goes to MacMillan.
Sunday 13th September
Ladies v gents..last game before we close the green for the winter.
All names to be in for 12.45 for a 1.00pm start

Another great day at the Men’s Open Triples competition yesterday.Thank you to everyone that helped out, Keith for organising & especially all the players who took part.
Winners of the 1st filling were Chris Snowden’s team from Brampton & runners up were Richard Peart’s team from Kirkbride.
Winners of the 2nd filling and overall winners were Keith Sander’s team from Hexham Elvaston with Brian Elstob’s team also from Elvaston runners up.
Congratulations to all of them but thanks again to everyone …players and helpers for making it such a good day…the weather helped as well!

As the season draws to close it’s been another busy week at the club Tuesday saw the final of the men’s handicap between Steven Reid and Nigel Watson. A really tight game with Nigel coming from behind to get the win.
A busy day on the green on Wednesday…Susan Kay and Linda Maughan playing the ladies 2 woods final with Susan coming out the winner.
Christine Roy and David Bowman playing the non winners final and David winning. Nigel Watson & David Bowman then played Wick Wilson & David Wheatcroft in the men’s pairs final with Wick & David the winners.
Today …Nigel was defending his Championship title against Brian Forster and what a great game they had. Brian was getting beat 11-1 but fought back & was winning 20-19 when Nigel came back at him and got the 2 he needed to win.
Congratulations to everyone..winners and runners up …it’s been a great season & we’re not quite finished yet….
Tomorrow we have the Men’s Open Triples competition and hopefully we will have a dry day and some more good games to watch.
Also tomorrow Pam Wood…our ladies champion is playing at the Champion of Champions at Silloth …good luck Pam.

Our Club triples competition was held last Saturday with the winners..C.Robinson, C.Izon & A.Grant. Runners up were C.J Roy, C.Maclagan & D.Murray. Well done to them and everyone else that took part.
On Thursday it was the ladies championship final between Pam Wood & Linda Lewis with Pam coming out the winner.
Saturday saw us take a team to Prudhoe for our last friendly of the season.
Another great afternoon with our friends and some not so good bowls on a ‘challenging’ green!
Lots going on in the next couple of weeks with semi finals and finals taking place for our Club competitions…check the diary for dates and times.

Interesting fact. If 4 people are drawn together in a team, the chance that exactly 3 of them are drawn together in a random team of 3 from the same 36 players is extremely small — about 1 in 1,785.

Congratulations to our ladies team for winning the Lochinvar league for the 2nd year running. We ended up with 27 out of 30 points only losing to Canonbie on our last game. Well done to Canonbie who were runners up.

Another good week of bowls at the club.
Last Saturday we welcomed President Ernie & his team from Harris park in Cockemouth . It was the first time they had played at Brampton and we had a great afternoon.
On Tuesday we took a team to Langholm New and had another good night.
Our competitions are getting to the final stages and need to be played in the next couple of weeks.
Today we had the 1st final …ladies handicap. It was played between Linda Lewis & Pam Wood with Linda coming out the winner after 29 ends!
It was a great match with both players playing some excellent bowls.
On Saturday we have our club triples…it’s a one o’clock start & forecast to be slightly cooler than today!
