ROSE ATHLETIC F.C 1–0 BRIDGE TAVERN AFC

Rose Athletic F.C. have secured their place in the next round of the District Cup with a 1–0 victory over Bridge Tavern AFC.

However, once again, this was a performance well below the standards we know this group is capable of. From the first whistle, we struggled to find any real rhythm, with simple passes going astray and very little attacking threat being created throughout the majority of the game.

For large spells, we simply weren’t at the races, and it took until the final 15 minutes for us to finally find a way through and get the all-important goal.

The result is ultimately what matters in cup football, and getting through to the next round is a positive, but we have to be honest with ourselves — the performances need to improve, and quickly.
Over the last couple of games, we’ve seen a noticeable drop in the fight, togetherness and overall work rate that helped us make such a strong start to the season. That cannot become the norm.

We know exactly what this group is capable of, but it's time to get back to the basics: work for each other, fight for every ball, play for the badge and leave everything out on the pitch.

A STATEMENT IS NEEDED TOMORROW.

After last week’s disappointing performance, the lads have the perfect opportunity to put things right and show exactly what Rose Athletic F.C are all about.

Last week simply wasn’t good enough, but the message this week is clear — draw a line under it, get back to what we do best and put in a performance that reflects the standards we’ve set this season.

It’s time to show that last week was just one of those days where nothing went our way, and more importantly, it’s time to respond in the right way.
There’s also extra bragging rights on the line tomorrow, with both teams representing The Bridge Tavern Pub. The battle on the pitch will be competitive enough, but there’s no doubt there’ll be plenty to talk about back at the pub afterwards!

Time to react. Time to respond. Time to show what we’re really about.

RATTLERS F.C 9–0 ROSE ATHLETIC F.C

A day we simply have to put behind us.
There’s no hiding from the fact that today’s performance was nowhere near the standards we expect and have set ourselves as a team. We didn’t turn up, we didn’t compete, and ultimately we got exactly what our performance deserved, Battered.

Rattlers were excellent and punished us from start to finish, taking full advantage of every mistake and dominating the game for the full 90 minutes. Credit where it’s due — they were clinical, aggressive and thoroughly deserved their victory.

It’s a difficult result to take, and an embarrassing one for everyone connected with Rose Athletic F.C but there are no excuses. We take responsibility, learn from it and move forward together.

Rattlers have clearly improved massively since last season and look like a completely different side. They showed today that they’re going to be a very strong team this season and we wish them all the best for the rest of their campaign.

For us, it’s about character now. One bad performance/result doesn’t define this team — how we respond to it does.

We dust ourselves down get back to work and come back stronger. 💛💙

The first cup game of the season is here, and Rose Athletic are ready for war. 🔥

We head into this one against another side who have made a strong start to their season just like ourselves so there’s no doubt this will be a serious test. But when that whistle goes all that matters is who wants it more.

With several of our lads having previously played for Rattlers, there’s an extra bit of fire and determination going into this one. The lads know exactly what’s at stake and there’s only one objective — get the win and book our place in the next round.

We’re expecting a battle from the first minute to the last. No hiding, no excuses, no backing down. We’ll fight for every ball, compete for every tackle and leave absolutely everything out on that pitch for the badge.

Cup football. Big game. One goal — GET THROUGH.

Salts Sunday F.C. 2–8 Rose Athletic F.C.

Another outstanding performance from the lads today as Rose Athletic continued our excellent start to the season with a convincing 8–2 victory away from home.

From the first whistle to the last, we controlled the game and played some fantastic football. We were simply too strong for the opposition and created countless opportunities throughout the 90 minutes.

🧤 John May standing in between the sticks had a solid game when called upon, although he was rarely troubled thanks to an outstanding defensive display. Billy and Adam were rock solid at centre-back, while Jack and Abel provided plenty of energy and quality from full-back constantly getting up and down the wings.

In midfield, Lionel and Matty once again gave absolutely everything battling for every ball and keeping the intensity high. Tom dictated the play brilliantly using his passing range and dangerous through balls to consistently unlock the Salts defence.

Our front three of Louy, Regan and Kyle never stopped working. Their relentless pressing caused problems all afternoon, forcing mistakes and creating opportunities while their movement and link-up play in the final third was excellent.

The substitutes also made a huge impact. Liam, Hamza, Cam, Shak and Mark R all came on and carried out exactly what was asked of them. The fresh legs caused absolute havoc with Liam grabbing a hat-trick, Hamza scoring twice and Cam contributing three assists.

We dominated the game from start to finish and, despite scoring eight could quite easily have added another five or six if we'd been a little more clinical with that final pass in the final third.

Overall another huge performance and three valuable points. The standard is being set, the football is flowing and the lads are working incredibly hard for one another.
Now it's about keeping this momentum going 💛💙

⚽️ LEAGUE GAME — FULL-TIME RESULT ⚽️
Rose Athletic F.C. 2–1 Greengates FC

Another game and another huge three points for Rose Athletic as we came out on top in a hard-fought battle against a very good Greengates side.

We knew coming into the game that it was going to be a tough test, and that proved to be the case. Both teams competed well throughout, but the Rose lads showed tremendous determination, character and togetherness to battle until the final whistle and secure a deserved victory.

Rose made the perfect start taking the lead just five minutes into the game. Adam launched a long throw into the penalty area and Kyle timed his run perfectly from behind the Greengates defence. Getting to the ball just ahead of the goalkeeper, Kyle managed to get a vital touch and poke the ball into the back of the net to give Rose an early 1–0 lead.

Greengates enjoyed some good spells of possession but Rose remained organised and disciplined, working tirelessly as a unit and making it difficult for the visitors to find a way through. Going forward, Rose continued to play some quick and attacking football creating further opportunities, although we were unable to extend the lead before the break.

Half-Time: Rose Athletic F.C. 1–0 Greengates F.C.

The second half began with the same intensity, with Rose continuing to battle for every ball and give everything for the badge. Our hard work was rewarded with a fantastic second goal.
Lionel picked up possession just inside the Greengates half and produced a brilliant driving run beating several players before playing the ball across the box, Regan was there to take control and unleashed an unstoppable strike into the back of the net sending the Rose supporters into celebration and making it 2–0.

The second goal seemed to give Greengates renewed energy and they responded by pulling a goal back. A dangerous ball was played across the Rose penalty area, and following a missed clearance, the ball unfortunately trickled into the net to make the score 2–1.

The final 15 minutes saw Greengates push hard in search of an equaliser, but Rose showed incredible resilience. The entire team continued to fight for one another, while the defence stood firm and stopped Greengates from creating any opportunities.

When the final whistle blew Rose had earned another massive three points. It was a brilliant battle between two good sides but the determination, work rate and togetherness shown by the Rose lads ensured that the points stayed with us.

A huge team performance and another important win for Rose Athletic. On to the next one! 💛💙

The countdown is on! This Sunday, Rose Athletic F.C are back at home as we welcome Greengates F.C for what promises to be a cracking game of football.
Two very good footballing teams going into battle, both with plenty of quality, determination and a hunger to come away with all three points. We know Greengates will provide a very tough test, but we’re more than ready for the challenge.
We’ve made a strong start to the season and now it’s about putting in another big performance, playing our football and fighting for every ball from the first whistle to the last.
