𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗖𝗛 𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧 | A disappointing afternoon as the lads fall to defeat against Clayton Albion.

A fairly even first half saw chances at both ends, with Athletic having opportunities to take the lead but unable to make them count.

Unfortunately, the levels dropped after the break. Athletic continued to create chances but couldn’t find the finish, while at the other end Clayton were much more clinical when their opportunities came.

Twice the visitors found themselves through one-on-one with our keeper and twice they punished us, giving Clayton a 2–0 lead that we couldn’t find a way back from.

A frustrating result on a day where missed chances at one end and mistakes at the other ultimately proved costly.

Plenty to work on and improve as we move onto the next one.

Tomorrow, the lads are back in action as we face Clayton Albion in our third game of the Bradford Sunday Alliance Premier Division season.

After an improved performance and a point against Oakenshaw last weekend, we’ll be looking to build on that tomorrow in what should be another strong test for the lads.

𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗖𝗛 𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧 | A much-improved performance from the lads on Sunday as the points are shared with Oakenshaw.

Athletic knew it would be a good test against an established Oakenshaw side, and after last week, a response was needed from the lads.

Oakenshaw started the quicker of the two sides and took the lead towards the end of the first half after Athletic were caught on the ball in a crucial area of the pitch.

The second half brought the perfect response. A free kick was flicked into the box, falling to Rory Langdon who, with his back to goal, produced an overhead kick in some style to fire into the top corner and bring Athletic level🔥

From there, Athletic were on top for much of the half and pushed for a winner. Good chances fell to Joe Brady and Jordan Busfield towards the end, but we couldn’t quite break down the Oakenshaw defence for a second time.

Overall, a much-improved performance from last week and a fair result in the end as the points were shared.

After sharing the points with Queensbury in our opening game of the season, we’re back at it this weekend as we face Oakenshaw AFC.

The lads will be looking to build on a strong first-half performance last time out and go in search of our first three points of the new season.

𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗖𝗛 𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧 | Athletic were back in action for the opening game of the new season against Queensbury.

The lads were well on top in the first half as James Hughes opened the scoring after a defended corner dropped to the edge of the area. Hughes met it on the volley and fired brilliantly into the bottom corner to put Athletic ahead.

Shortly after, the lead was doubled. Seth Pamment got in behind the Queensbury defence before squaring to Brad McDonnell, who finished first time to make it 2–0.

The second half didn’t quite go our way, with a big drop in levels allowing Queensbury back into the game. Twice Athletic failed to deal with a ball in behind and twice we were punished, leaving the points shared on the opening day.

Not the result we wanted after being well on top in the first half, but plenty to build on.

We look ahead to this weekend for our second home game🟢⚫️

Tomorrow, we host Queensbury FC at Marley for our first game in the Bradford Sunday Alliance Premier Division.

The previous history against Queensbury hasn’t always fallen in our favour but the lads are keen to try and change that and are raring to go.

It’s semi-final day for the lads as we play in the afternoon fixture against reigning champions, Old Farnley FC (swipe to see previous not-posted match results that got us here😅)

The lads have battled week by week in some tough conditions and, though we lost our top of the table spot by 1 point, they are ready and raring to go today.
