Wetherby 10k 6th Sept.

The Wetherby Run has a relatively short history and in 2026 we will be proud to host the race for the Twenty First year. Since its inception it has become a firm favourite with runners from around the region and beyond.

Tholthorpe 10k 6th Sept.

The Tholthorpe 10K is an established road race through the North Yorkshire countryside, starting and finishing in the village of Tholthorpe. The attractive course follows quiet rural roads before returning to the Village Green beside the duck pond. Well done to Martin and Steve.

Cardiff 10k 6th September

The CDF 10K takes runners on a sightseeing tour of the city, with highlights including Cardiff Castle and the Principality Stadium. The race journeys through the heart of central Cardiff, before crossing the River Taff and heading towards the leafy suburb of Pontcanna and the grade 2 listed parkland of Llandaff and Pontcanna Fields. Runners will then pass Sophia Gardens, the home of Welsh cricket, before a grandstand finish in the Edwardian Civic Centre.

Well done Evan and congrats on your Pb, Evan finished in 44:11.

🏃‍♀️✨ Alphabeteer Challenge: Completed!
In October 2024 I joined a few QRC friends for a Unity Day trip to Volksgarten parkrun in Germany, followed by Zegerplas parkrun in the Netherlands — and that’s where the alphabeteer challenge inspiration really kicked in.
Fast‑forward to the end of 2025 and I still had Q, U, K and N left. Weekends away were booked, N was already lined up as the QRC away run on 29/8/26, and Heather pointed out something even better: with the right timing, I could hit my 100th parkrun, 50th location, AND 25th volunteer milestone on the same day. Challenge accepted.
Then February happened.
A ski trip.
A nasty fall.
A twisted knee.
Running stopped. Timings were tight for the challenge, I couldn’t miss a week. Volunteering roles were limited. So I walked instead! Even when it meant leaving my camping holiday at 7:15am to get my 99th, or leaving my step‑brother’s 50th early to get home because I couldn’t add an extra location.
Three weeks ago the physio finally gave me the green light to run again. And honestly? I’m grateful I kept turning up to walk — it made coming back so much easier.
Today I finished the alphabeteer challenge as tailwalker, cheered on by QRC.
Milestones achieved - Alphabeteer, 100th parkrun at 50 locations, 25 volunteers at 10 locations! Knee healing. Challenge complete.
On to the next one 😉

Thanks to Bev for her write up of the recent race the lights;

Multiple QRC runners took on Fylde Runners “Race the Lights 5k and 10k” on Saturday 15th August. The race starts at 9pm, just as it’s getting dark to allow runners run along the prom under the Blackpool Illuminations, passing famous landmarks such as the Blackpool Tower and Pleasure Beach. Over 3000 runners took part, cheered on by friends, family and revellers.

Not only is it a fun event but it’s a flat out and back making it excellent PB territory. It’s chip timed and runners receive a snazzy glow in the dark medal for their efforts. Although some of us pimped our shirts with fairy lights, tacky gear isn’t compulsory 😆 As the name suggests, 5k and 10k routes are available.

Entries are open for next year with discounts available for multiple entries. Well worth doing whether you’re an experienced runner or new to racing.

Sir Titus Trot Half Marathon 15th Aug 2026

Starting next to Roberts Park this Half Marathon ran canalside passing by Bingley, Crossflats, Sandbeds, Riddlesden and on towards Low Wood before turning a full 180° and heading back to Saltaire.

Well done to Phillip Whetlock who had a great race managing to finish as 1st MV60 in a quick time of 1:44:31

The run report from when QRC took over Halifax parkrun on Yorkshire Day.

York 10k 1st August 2026

It has been described as one of the country’s most beautiful city runs. Since its launch in 2009, the event has also grown into one of Yorkshire’s most popular 10Ks.

The York 10K offers runners the unique opportunity to race through the heart of this wonderful city.

The route starts and finishes in Knavesmire Road, close to York Racecourse. It then takes in some of the city’s most historic landmarks, including the ancient city walls, Clifford’s Tower and the minster.
