Great to have Phil and Angie from Dementia Friendly Keighley at Farfield last Thursday.

Many people think dementia only affects older adults, but we learned that dementia is an umbrella term for many different conditions. While age is the biggest risk factor, some forms can affect much younger people, highlighting why awareness and understanding are so important.

There is a strong connection between alcohol misuse and Korsakoff syndrome – a form of brain damage caused by a severe vitamin B1 (thiamine) deficiency, often linked to prolonged alcohol dependence. It's a powerful reminder of why education, early intervention and recovery support matter.

A huge thank you to Phil and Angie for sharing their knowledge and helping us become a more dementia-friendly community. πŸ’™
