Our 3rd group session of the day was our disability dance group. Movement matters and what a better way to move! Look at their faces!

The face of 2 very happy small business owners who have just seen the latest update of the fundraising. We are on 50% of our overall target and between the lot of you we have almost raised a MAHOOSIVE 10 thousand pounds!

When we set the target of 20k we thought we’d be lucky to even raise 2 let alone 20! To think in just 3 months we have raised a MASSIVE 10k! We are blown away!

Everybody who has tagged and shared you have helped us raise awareness and we are even having complete strangers donate and that’s thanks to the power of social media!

We started fundraising in May when our incredible participants took part in a sponsored walk from Saltaire to Leeds on the canal.

One of our members Dan along with James joined us on the canal with a paddleboard and although Dan had never been on a board before he completed the challenge and raised us lots of funds.

Next up we had one of our members Jay who has been recovering from knee surgery over the last couple of years took on a 10k challenge which is testament to his dedication and commitment of post surgery rehab! Lots of funds raised by Jay thank you 🙏

Along comes Mr R’s mammoth effort of a marathon in a wheelchair! James wanted something that was going to really challenge him and after tearing his ACL his lower body was out of action. James wanted a visual challenge to raise awareness for disabilities and an entire day was spent completing laps in a wheelchair to total the distance of a marathon. Massive effort and lots of funds raised!

Julys challenge involved climbing 3 mountains in one day (say whaaaat)! Never ever again! Myself and 10others took on the challenge and again an entire day spent and loads of money raised. 2 local companies chipped in large quantities of money which was greatly appreciated!

Finally a big up shout out to Shab and Eisa who have used their online platform to reach out to their followers to raise funds for us which we hugely appreciate!

We are going to pass over the fundraising reins to Suley for the next challenge of a sponsored kick a thon. Keep eyes and ears posted for updates on that one in the upcoming weeks.

Again thanks to everybody who has helped us so far!

Tuesday night and the Robinsons back in the game to have a super dooper circuit with our Tuesday Down Syndrome group. It was a hot one, it’s end of term but everyone did super well! Very proud of you squad!

This is a very RARE appreciation post to THIS guy! 2 peak Dan can no longer be referred to as 2 peaks anymore!

This absolute maniac could not complete the 3 peaks last week as he was supporting his Mrs who had to withdraw with a knee injury. The rest of us were still suffering days after, but this crazy guy took on the challenge again just a few days later!

I can confirm Dan is no longer 2 peak Dan but technically could be called 5 peak Dan now! Absolute respect to him as there was no way I would be doing that challenge again, let alone a few days after the original attempt! Big up Dan massive kudos 👏

To see this little lady cross that finish line in 2nd place hit different this year. This is the first year her health has been at such a good level since her diagnosis. The first year we haven’t had tears for weeks in advance for the dreaded sports day.

Our little girl was so poorly she wasn’t even able to take part in this race a few years ago. To see her stride across that finish line and to not collapse at the end makes me emotional, but to she her comfortably take 2nd place made my eyes leak!

We may still have a way to go, BUT we have come sooooooo far and I am so proud of the most resilient little warrior princess! 👑

Tuesday night DS group. Lots of hard work gone in to our inside/outside circuit today. Quite a few none media friendly in this group so I couldn’t capture everyone but so good to see so many join us tonight.

Well done squad!

Sports day rant 🏉 ⚽️ 🏏 🥎 🏓

In summary sports day focus should be on FUN!
- Yes it’s great to have healthy competition but sometimes we can take the focus away from the fun element.
- Every child on that field needs to feel like they have achieved something. By diversifying the activities you are more likely to find something that every child can succeed in.
- There is more to sports than just running!

Let’s ensure sports day are inclusive and make children feel valued, empowered and like they have achieved something!

A couple of weeks ago we focussed on the game show the cube. This week we focussed on the game show play your cards right. Participants had to guess if the card was going to be higher or lower and that decided how many repetitions of the exercise they had to do.

Gamifying physical activity is such a win for a lot of our participants. Movement when they don’t even realise they’re exercising! Winner winner!
