Phoenix produced their most explosive batting display of the T20 campaign to date, racking up a mammoth total before bowling Omars out with ease to secure their fourth consecutive win in Group B.

Batting first, openers Muhammad Nadeem (55 off 33, 8 fours, 2 sixes) and Majid Ali (54 off 32, 7 fours, 1 six) got Phoenix off to a flying start, putting on a blistering 137-run partnership before both retired not out. The pair set the platform for a massive total.

Hasan Shabir (25 off 15) and Najeeb Ahmadzai (33* off 20, 4 fours, 1 six) added valuable runs down the order as Phoenix finished on a commanding 240/5 from 20 overs.

In reply, Omars never looked like chasing down the target. Early wickets from Mohammad Ansar (2/28) and Zia Ur Rahman Orakhil (2/34) put them on the back foot immediately. Syed Imran (2/25) , Naresh Patel (2/28) and Hasan Shabir (1/0 from 0.5 overs) kept the pressure on as Omars were bowled out for 151 in 16.5 overs.

A mixed weekend for Phoenix – the 1st XI produced a commanding performance to secure a big win, while the 2nd XI came up against a strong Girlington side.

✅ Won by 142 runs

The 1st XI delivered their most complete performance of the season, posting a formidable total before bowling Sunrise out with ease.

Batting first, Phoenix made light work of the Sunrise attack, racking up 259/5 from 40 overs. Openers Zareen Shan (78 off 63, 9 fours & 2 sixes) and Rafaqat Ali (23 off 61) laid a solid foundation with a 99-run opening stand. Atzaz Kazmi (62 off 68, 8 fours) then took over before Hasan Shabir (59 off 39, 6 fours & 1 six) provided a rapid finish – the pair putting on a 124-run partnership for the 4th wicket to propel Phoenix to a commanding total.

In the second innings Phoenix were clinical with the ball and in the field. Experienced bowler Muhammad Asim Khan (3/22) made an immediate impact with his accuracy and skill, with Uzair Khan (2/27) and Hasan Shabir (2/14) also chipping in with 2 wickets a piece. Adil Kayani (54*) batted with grit for Sunrise, but the total was always out of reach as they were bowled out for 117 in 27 overs.

The 2nd XI faced a tough challenge away at Girlington and came up short despite a fighting effort.

Girlington batted first and posted 183 all out in 34.1 overs, largely thanks to a counter-attacking 99 off 66 balls (13 fours and 5 sixes) from Mohammed Juned Ahmed Jihad who fell one agonising run short of a century. Naresh Patel (4/38) was the pick of the Phoenix bowlers, while Bilal Hussain (2/30) and Tamrez Bhai (1/31 off 10) also bowled well.

In reply Phoenix lost early wickets and never quite got going. Naresh Patel (44 off 61, 2 fours, 4 sixes) and Pritesh Patel (30 off 35) offered resistance, but wickets fell at regular intervals. Razakat Ali (3/11) and Zaheer Hussain (3/24) did the damage as Phoenix were bowled out for 133 in 26.4 overs – falling 50 runs short.

An extraordinary performance from the Phoenix T20 XI, who produced their most dominant display of the season to thrash Salem Athletic by 10 wickets.

Bowling first, Phoenix ripped through the Salem batting line-up, bowling them out for just 27 in 13.1 overs – a remarkable effort from the entire attack.

Jonaid Khan (5/6 from 4 overs) was unplayable, producing a stunning five-wicket haul. Waseem Usman (1/0 from 2 overs, 2 maidens) and Zia Ur Rahman Orakhil (1/7) also made early breakthroughs, while Syed Imran (1/11) and Atzaz Kazmi (1/3) chipped in.

The fielding was sharp too, with Hasan Shabir and Zia Ur Rahman Orakhil both taking good catches.

In reply, the chase was a formality. Phoenix knocked off the 29 runs required in just 2 overs without losing a wicket – a fittingly swift end to a one-sided contest.

A frustrating day for the 1st XI, who started well but let the game slip.

Batting first, Phoenix built a solid foundation through Atzaz Kazmi (48 off 56, 5 fours, 3 sixes) and Hasan Shabir (34 off 48, 7 fours), who shared a 62-run stand to take the score to 106/2.

But a collapse followed. Phoenix lost 8 wickets for just 54 runs to be bowled out for 160 in 37.2 overs. Zohaib Sikndar (4/19) and Zohaib Ashraf (3/42) did the damage for Omars.

In reply, a target of 161 from 40 overs looked achievable for Omars whilst also defendable, but Phoenix's fielding let them down. Several dropped chances proved costly as Qamar Sadiq (63) and Saad Mirza (37) put on 73 for the first wicket. Omars chased down the target in 28.2 overs, winning by 4 wickets.

Bowling first, Phoenix restricted Kashmir to 133 all out in 33.4 overs. Abdul Wahid (3/30), Sajansinh Kathwadiya (2/14) and Sadaqat Khan (2/14) were the pick of the bowlers.

In reply, Phoenix never got going in the chase. Vraj Patel (21 off 15, 5 fours) provided a brief spark, and Wali Ullah (20 off 48) dug in at the top, but wickets fell at regular intervals. Haroon Iqbal (4/20) and Ali Hussain (3/17) tore through the Phoenix middle and lower order. Phoenix were bowled out for 107 in 31.1 overs – falling 26 runs short.

Batting first, Phoenix recovered from early wobbles to post 142/9. Zareen Shan (49 off 36, 3 fours, 2 sixes) held the innings together with a composed knock, while Wasim Usman (19 off 15) provided a useful late cameo. Moin Uddin (4/24) was the pick of the Kashmir bowlers.

In reply, Phoenix produced an excellent bowling and fielding display. The bowlers stuck to their lines, and the catching was sharp throughout. Hasan Shabir (3/7 from 3 overs) was the standout with the ball, bowling with control and precision. Amjad Ali (2/21) and Zareen Shan (2/0 from 0.3 overs) also chipped in as Kashmir were bundled out for 90 in 19.3 overs.

Phoenix 1st XI Won by 10 Wickets

The 1st XI made light work of Awan, producing a ruthless display to secure a convincing win.

Bowling first, Phoenix ripped through the Awan batting line-up, dismissing them for just 40 in 14.2 overs.

Amjad Ali was the star with the ball, returning incredible figures of 4 for 4 from 5 overs – a spell of precision and control that broke the back of the innings.

The chase was a formality. Phoenix knocked off the required runs in just 5.3 overs, finishing on 43 without loss (Shan 20*, Atzaz 16*) to seal a 10-wicket win.

A much tougher afternoon for the 2nd XI, who fell short in their match with Greenfield at Coach Road.

Batting first, Greenfield posted a daunting 250/7 from their 30 overs. Adeel Ahmed (70) and Hassan Sultan (70) did the damage with aggressive knocks. Naresh Patel (3/32) was the pick of the Phoenix bowlers, while Asad Zaman (2/67) and Tamrez Bhai (2/66) also chipped in.

In reply, Phoenix gave it a real go. Vraj Patel (45 off 28, 5 sixes) provided a spark in the middle order, while Tamraz Bhai (38 off 16, 3 fours, 4 sixes) and Bilal Hussain (22 off 15) kept the chase alive. Pritesh Patel (35) also contributed at the top.

Phoenix finished on 222 all out in 24.1 overs – a spirited effort that fell 28 runs short.
