We recently completed an installation of sockets and switches on a decorative wall panel, ensuring everything blends seamlessly with the interior design while remaining fully functional.

Preparation for service head relocation

BS 7671 (the IET Wiring Regulations) places strong emphasis on the correct installation of cables within recognised safe cable zones. These zones are designed to reduce the risk of electric shock, fire, and damage to electrical installations, particularly during future work such as drilling or fixing to walls.

Safe cable zones are defined areas where cables may be installed without additional mechanical protection. They include vertical or horizontal zones aligned with electrical accessories (such as sockets, switches, or consumer units), as well as zones within 150 mm of the top of a wall or within 150 mm of an internal corner. By keeping cables within these predictable areas, anyone working on the building can reasonably anticipate where cables are likely to be located.
