The first workout of the bootcamp done!

If you were on this morning’s workout, you’ll know it was far from perfect conditions 🤣

There was my three year old climbing on me, a dog joining in, plenty of interruptions and even a fight at one point but do you know what? We still got the workout done.

I think so many mums believe exercise only counts if it’s in complete silence with no interruptions, but that’s just not real life, especially during the summer holidays.

My girls are always going to be part of my life, so instead of waiting for the perfect moment where I have an hour to myself, I’ve learnt to work with the chaos rather than against it.

If today’s session showed just one mum that she doesn’t need childcare or a perfect routine to prioritise herself, then it did exactly what I hoped it would.

Our next workout is Thursday at 8am and I’m actually child free for this one… I think 🤣

The school holidays can make staying active feel much harder.

I’d love to know, what would make it feel genuinely achievable for you?

Would it be:
• Shorter workouts
• Training at home
• Children being welcome
• A set timetable
• Accountability
• A group of other parents

Or is there something else? Let me know in the comments. Your answers will help me provide support that actually works for busy parents.

One of the biggest reasons mums stop exercising over the summer is because they think they need the perfect conditions where they get to the gym and they can spend an hour there 2-3 times a week. The children need occupying the whole time and any interruptions means that the workout doesn’t count.

The reality is for some of us, those perfect conditions very rarely happen especially during the school holidays when you’re spinning 100 different plates.

Movement doesn’t only count when it’s long, sweaty or in a gym. It counts when you make time for yourself even if it’s only 20 or 30 minutes at home while the children are around. A lot of the time you will be surprised and they will join in with you!

A little bit done consistently, will always beat waiting six weeks for life to calm down. Because I can bet my bottom dollar that when September comes around, something else will crop up!

I’ve been putting something together that fits around family life and I honestly think it’s going to help so many mums this summer.

Keep watching☀️

I think there’s something quite sad about looking back and realising how much time we spent worrying about our bodies when we were younger.

Trying to eat less, look smaller, hide certain parts of ourselves or thinking we would feel more confident once we lost weight.

At the time, it felt normal because it was everywhere. It was in magazines, on TV, in conversations with friends and family and in the way we were taught to talk about food.

Now we’re the generation where we’re raising children and I think a lot of us are trying to do things differently. So our children don’t feel the same way about certain things.

I want my children to see that food is just food, movement can be something you enjoy and bodies are for living in, not constantly picking and pulling apart.

I want them to see me wear the clothes, get in the photo, eat the cake, move my body, rest when I need to and enjoy my life without waiting until I look a certain way first.

What is something you’re trying not to pass down to your children?
