After a fantastic weekend of racing, the 2026 British Individual Championships reach their climax this Bank Holiday Monday - and the Poole Comets are right in the thick of the action! 🇬🇧🏆

We’ve already celebrated a British title, a silver medal and some superb performances across the weekend.

Jamie heads into Finals Day already carrying the title of 2026 Under 16 British Champion, while Teddy is the reigning Under 16 World Champion.

ANOTHER HUGE DAY FOR THE COMETS! 💙☄️🔥

Day Two of the 2026 British Individual Championships is complete and once again there is plenty to celebrate for the Blue Army - including a BRITISH SILVER MEDAL, places secured in tomorrow’s Women’s Final and another Comet heading into the biggest race of the weekend - the British Open Final! 🇬🇧🏆

🥈💙 PETE YOUNG - OVER 50s BRITISH SILVER!

What a performance from the legend!

Almost three decades after being crowned British Champion in 1997, Pete Young showed that class is permanent as he raced to a superb 15 points and 2nd place in the Over 50s Veterans Championship! 🥈🇬🇧

British Championship silver for Poole’s stats man and one of the true legends of the sport!

Absolutely brilliant, Pete! 👏💙

🔥 FEZ IS INTO THE OPEN FINAL!

A fantastic performance from Fez Langoo saw him score an excellent 14 points in his Open Semi-Final to secure his place in the 2026 BRITISH OPEN FINAL! 🇬🇧🏁

After some superb performances on the big stage last year, Fez is right back amongst it again and will now take his place alongside Britain’s best with a British title on the line! 💪🔥

💙 WOMEN’S FINAL - TWO COMETS THROUGH!

A brilliant day for Lexie Curtis and Ava Chapman, with BOTH successfully negotiating Women’s qualifying and booking their places in the British Women’s Final! 🇬🇧🔥

Ava’s qualification caps an incredibly busy day after she was also in action in the Under 18 Girls Championship.

🏁 Millie Shear - 9 points - Joint 7th
🏁 Ava Chapman - 9 points - Joint 7th

Another strong showing from the Poole girls as Millie and Ava battled their way through a tough U18 field, both finishing on 9 points and joint 7th. 👏💙

💙 UNDER 18 BOYS

Due to a withdrawal there was no U18 qualifiers for Teddy Curtis and Jamie Randall who go straight into the Final tomorrow.

Both lads rode today in the Open qualifiers and were very close but just missed out on the finals.

Tomorrow is another opportunity on the British Championship stage for the pair, with Jamie already carrying the title of 2026 Under 16 British Champion and Teddy the reigning Under 16 World Champion! 🏆🌍🇬🇧

And that wraps up another action-packed day of British Championship racing! 💙☄️

A silver medal for Pete, Fez safely into the Open Final, Ava and Lexie through to the Women’s Final and plenty more racing still to come.

What a way to kick off British Championship weekend for the Poole Comets! 💙☄️

A fantastic opening day of racing has seen our riders battling it out against some of the very best in the country - with finalists, semi-final qualifiers and a NEW BRITISH CHAMPION amongst the Saturday action! 🔥🏆

🥇🇬🇧 JAMIE RANDALL - UNDER 16 BRITISH CHAMPION! 🇬🇧🥇

The biggest result of the day came from Jamie Randall, who produced a superb performance in the Under 16 Final, scoring a brilliant 19 points before winning the run-off for first place to be crowned the 2026 UNDER 16 BRITISH CHAMPION! 🏆🔥

Absolutely outstanding Jamie - congratulations from everyone at Poole Cycle Speedway! 💙👏

Jamie’s weekend isn’t finished there either, as he also scored 13 points to qualify for the Open Semi-Final.

He also battled his way through the Open qualifying stages, scoring 10 points before holding his nerve in a run-off to book his place in the Open Semi-Final! 💪🏁

Fez put together a strong qualifying performance, scoring 13 points and securing his place in the Open Semi-Final! 🔥

🏁🔵 MATCH REPORT - COMETS TAKE THE WIN AT HARBOURSIDE 🔵🏁

POOLE COMETS 94 - 85 HORSPATH HAMMERS

The Poole Comets signed off their home South & South Wales Division 1 campaign in style on Sunday, overcoming reigning Regional and National League champions Horspath Hammers in a fiercely contested encounter at Harbourside Park. 💙🤍

It was Poole’s first Division 1 action on home shale since their sensational victory over Southampton back in June, and with both sides firmly in the hunt for honours, this always had the makings of an important afternoon in the race for the Regional title.

Horspath arrived with a slightly weakened side led by Owen Johnson, alongside Rachel Lammin, George Horsley, Tom Alexander, Steven Beesley and Jack Ellis.

The Comets were also missing several regulars, with returning club captain Feroze Langoo back in the side after missing the Gold Cup while on holiday. He was joined by Greg Głuchowski, Pete Young, Division 1 debutant Mark Hebditch, Ollie Saunders, Aaron Laing, Joe Chapman and Ava Chapman.

🔥 TIGHT FROM THE TAPES

From the opening race it was clear there would be very little separating the two teams.

An incredible seven of the opening nine heats finished 5-5, with Poole’s advantage coming courtesy of two 6-4s in Heats 1 and 8, both delivered by the pairing of Greg Głuchowski and Pete Young.

That was enough to give the Comets a slender advantage at the interval:

🔵 Poole 47 - 43 Horspath 🔴

💥 COMETS MAKE THEIR MOVE

The second half began with the biggest statement of the afternoon.

Ollie Saunders and Pete Young combined for a huge 7-3 in Heat 10, stretching Poole’s advantage and giving the Comets some valuable breathing room.

But Horspath weren’t going anywhere.

The racing remained incredibly tight, with 5-5 after 5-5 keeping the Hammers within touching distance as the meeting headed towards its closing stages.

Poole finally found another breakthrough in Heat 16, with Greg Głuchowski taking the chequered flag while Mark Hebditch held off George Horsley to secure a crucial 6-4. A fantastic contribution from Mark on his Division 1 debut. 👏

A gate movement from Ollie Saunders in Heat 17 resulted in a one-point deduction, but by then the Comets had done enough.

After 18 hard-fought heats, Poole secured an excellent:

🏁 POOLE COMETS 94 - 85 HORSPATH HAMMERS 🏁

⭐ CAPTAIN’S MAXIMUM

Returning captain Feroze Langoo certainly showed no signs of holiday rust, producing a superb unbeaten 24-point maximum to lead his side from the front. 🔥

Greg Głuchowski was right behind him with an excellent 22 points, as contributions throughout the team helped secure another huge home victory.

It’s tight at the top of the table with just one league fixture remaining. 💙

Sunday’s meeting brought the curtain down on Division 1 racing at Harbourside Park for 2026, and we would like to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who has come down and supported our riders throughout the season.

🏁 SUNDAY ROUND-UP - COMETS IN ACTION 🏁

It was another busy weekend for the Blue Army, with Comets representing both club and region across the country. 💙

🔵 WOMEN’S LEAGUE - BOB EVENT @ LEICESTER

Three of our girls - Tilly Shear, Ava Chapman and Millie Shear - were in action at Leicester on Sunday, representing South & South Wales in the Women’s League BOB event.

It was a relatively young S&SW squad taking on some tough opposition from the other regions, with Southampton’s vastly experienced Rachel Lammin leading the way.

Tilly picked up 3 points from her single ride, Millie added 3 points from 3 rides, while Ava collected an excellent 7+1 from her four outings.

The team battled hard throughout the meeting to finish 4th overall. 👏

Next up came the Intermediate individual competition - and the Comets certainly made their mark! 🔥

Tilly put together a very impressive 10 point haul through the qualifying heats, earning herself a place in the B Final where she finished 3rd. 👏

Meanwhile, both Ava and Millie produced superb performances to finish the heats on 13 points apiece, sending them both through to the A Final.

And what a result it was! 💙

Elsewhere, Poole’s Greg Głuchowski was back in National League action, taking up a guest spot for the Horspath Hammers.

And Greg certainly made his presence felt, racking up a fantastic 21 points from his six rides! 🔥

That comes just one week after a huge 23-point haul, making it two outstanding weekends on the bounce for our Polish star. 🇵🇱💙

🏁 BYJL NATIONAL SERIES – ROUND 2 🏁
📍 East Park, Wolverhampton

The Poole Comets were back in National Series action today, making the trip to the Midlands for Round 2 of the British Youth & Junior League at East Park - and once again our young riders did the club proud! 💙☄️

On a big East Park circuit, with the dry conditions adding an extra challenge, there was some fantastic racing and plenty of determination from the Blue Army throughout the day.

🔵 UNDER 10s

Izacc Laing produced an absolutely superb performance, going unbeaten throughout his qualifying heats to book his place in the A Final.

And he wasn’t finished there! 💪🏼

Izacc carried that form straight into the final, taking another brilliant victory to claim 1st place in the A Final and round off a perfect day of racing! 🥇🔥

🔵 UNDER 12s

The Comets were represented by Oscar Bartlett and Jackson Chapman, with both putting in some excellent rides across the day.

Jackson collected 7 points from his qualifying heats before finishing 2nd in his run-off for a place in the B Final. He then lined up in the C Final, where another strong ride saw him take an excellent 2nd place. 👏🏼

Oscar was in fantastic form, scoring an impressive 14 points from his qualifying rides to secure his place amongst the top four.

Up against a strong field in the A Final, Oscar battled hard to come away with a brilliant 3rd place and another National Series podium! 🥉💙

Well done boys! 💪🏼

🔵 GIRLS UNDER 18s

Ava Chapman flew the flag for Poole in the Girls Under 18s, producing a consistent set of qualifying rides to score 8 points and secure her place in the A Final.

Ava then put together another strong ride in the final to claim an excellent 3rd place and another podium finish for the Comets! 🥉👏🏼

A fantastic effort, Ava! 💙

Another brilliant day from our young Comets, who all showed great determination on a very different and challenging East Park circuit.

Huge congratulations to everyone who pulled on the Poole colours today - some excellent racing, great results and, most importantly, another fantastic representation of our club on the national stage. 💙☄️

Finally, we also send our very best wishes to Doug Shear, who was racing in today’s EuroVets competition at Leicester.

Unfortunately, Doug took a tumble in his second ride and has suffered a fractured wrist.
