The annual Buttars Trophy took place on Sunday 13th September, with members competing against the Captain and Club Professionals in an 18-hole mixed four-ball better-ball matchplay challenge.

The trophy is named in honour of Cis Buttars, a former professional at Blackmoor. Congratulations to Karl Rodgers & Lewis Moore, who won with an impressive 12 up! 👏

Sunday 6th September saw the final mixed match of the season, with seven pairs heading to Burhill for this much sought-after fixture.

After five fantastic years of managing the mixed team, Frances and Bob Hudson are stepping down and handing over to Liz Fulbrook and Mark Haines.

A big thank you to Frances and Bob for all their hard work, enthusiasm and commitment over the years. It has been greatly appreciated by everyone involved.

A wonderful day was had by all, with a warm welcome from Burhill, great golf, drinks on the terrace and an excellent lunch.

We wish Liz and Mark every success as they take over the reins!

It’s great to see two of the South of England’s most highly regarded heathland golf clubs, Blackmoor Golf Club and Hindhead Golf Club, partnering to launch a new elite women’s amateur championship – The Heathland Vase.

Taking place on 7–8 August 2027, the 54-hole stroke play championship will bring together leading female amateur golfers from across England and beyond.

🏌️ Saturday 7 August: 36 holes at Blackmoor Golf Club
🏌️ Sunday 8 August: 18 holes at Hindhead Golf Club, followed by the prize-giving.

The event is being led by teams from both clubs, with Alison West, Chair of the Joint Tournament Committee and Ladies’ Captain at Blackmoor, and Lorraine Tuffin, Ladies’ Vice-Captain at Hindhead.

Organised by Charles Gordon, the Blackmoor Bowl is one of the club’s most popular annual open events and is always a fiercely competitive day, with the winner receiving automatic entry to the coveted Selborne Salver.

This year, a familiar face took the title. Congratulations to Toby Burden of Hayling Golf Club, who produced two excellent rounds of 68 and 69 for a winning total of 137.

Toby is Captain of the Hampshire County First Team and regularly represents the county at the highest amateur level. Alex Emms finished runner-up after rounds of 70 and 68 for 138. A member of The Vale Golf & Country Club, Alex won the Selborne Salver earlier this year and plays off a handicap of +5. ⛳

Blackmoor’s Colin Roope finished in third place with rounds of 71 and 69 for 140, while our Club Champion, Sam Parsons, finished a highly creditable seventh with rounds of 70 and 73 for 143.

On Monday 31st August, Blackmoor was delighted to host the annual Mixed Invitation, welcoming 20 pairs representing 14 different clubs for an enjoyable day of golf and friendship.

This year’s event was particularly special for Bob and Frances Hudson, as it marked the final Mixed Invitation they will organise after five hugely enjoyable years as Match Managers of the Mixed Team.

Thank everyone who has supported the Mixed Team and the Mixed Invitation over the years, to share some wonderful days of golf and friendship.

Jason Bastable – Order of Merit Winner!

A huge congratulations to Blackmoor Club Member Jason Bastable, who has been crowned the England & Wales Blind Golf Order of Merit winner.

The Order of Merit is decided across the season, rewarding consistent performances at EWBG events, and Jason has produced the results needed to finish at the top of the standings. Jason will compete in the Blind Golf World Championship next May 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

A fantastic achievement and a great reward for a strong season of golf.
