Scotland's passion for sport meant the 2026 Commonwealth Games was always going to be a success. Glasgow delivered - again.

With our sport being 1 of the 10 on show; and one of our own (Sunny Doig) representing Team Scotland, we hope many young Scots have been inspired to give judo a try.

Just-Judo Yoshin is based at Lasswade High School, is one of only a few clubs to have achieved the Governing Body's accreditation standard and offers a free 'Come & Try' opportunity.

If you want to give a new sport a try - choose judo! What have you got to lose 🥋

2 athletes, 1 sport, 1 High School and 24 years apart - this one’s for you

Team Scotland’s Sunny Doig (Judo -63kg) is joined by former World Champion and Manchester Commonwealth Games Gold medalist Graeme Randall (both former pupils at Lasswade High School) at the Opening Ceremony of The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Having a coach with the profile and knowledge of Graeme on the team just adds to the experience for Sunny, as well as being great for Midlothian! 💪🏻🥋🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

What an experience for Sunny yesterday, joining her Team Scotland colleagues for the Opening Ceremony of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
It looked amazing on the TV, must’ve been something else to be there!

Very privileged that our ‘day jobs’ allow us to share in Sunny’s amazing experiences throughout the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Former Team Scotland judo Head coach, now leading the Team Scotland cycling team, David took time out from collecting his fifth (😳) set of Team Scotland kit to grab a quick photo with Sunny at the kitting out day.

Today the Kings Baton Relay visited JudoScotland’s National Training Centre at the EICA, with Sunny and her team mates welcoming the baton delivered by Commonwealth Games Scotland CEO Jon Doig.

Let the Games begin, and the experiences continue!

A great day today at the Tanoshii Team Rumble. Lots more experience in the bank, another fun day with team mates and get to meet lots of other judoka from local clubs.

Huge thanks to the parents for the unwavering support, and to David who was on coach duty today!

Great job Tanoshii Judo, thanks for all the effort in making this happen - one of our favourite events on the calendar 🙏🏻

Wishing the best of luck to the young team representing the club at the Tanoshii Team Rumble tomorrow 💪🏻🥋

Always a great event, with opportunities to compete alongside members of other clubs in mixed teams and take part in fun activities throughout the day, it will provide valuable experience and lots of chances to put the training into practice.

Have a great day everyone, we can’t wait to hear all about it.

Sixteen years ago, a tiny 5 year old walked into the judo club at Bonnyrigg Leisure Centre.

As soon as she was eligible she started competing, carried on training (lots of training!) and tackled the many challenges that sport, & growing up throws at us.

This week Sunny Doig was selected to represent Team Scotland at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Everyone at the club is buzzing at the selection and so excited for this next experience - for us all!

Congratulations Sunny, keep working hard out there in Japan, and remember: be 😉

More contests in the bank for Arran & Nathan today at the Clyde Grand Prix.
Great experience for Nathan, who has made improvements since his last Grand Prix outing and good to see Arran back at it again in his first competition since last year’s Scottish. 🥈🥉
Well done also to Martin, who was out in the middle again Refereeing!
Huge thanks to Clyde Judo Club who delivered a very well run event that kept the contests flowing throughout the day 🙏🏻
