For our Cyclones goalkeeper Elijah — better known as Zyler — every training session and every match is another opportunity to learn, improve and grow in confidence.

Goalkeeping is not about being perfect. It is about having the courage to stand between the posts, make brave decisions and remain ready for the next moment—whatever happened in the last one.

Every goalkeeper knows the feeling: one minute you are under pressure, and the next minute you are the difference between a goal and a save. It is all about perspective.

The Astley Bridge Cyclones are back in action and ready to kick off pre-season with a brilliant friendly against De La Salle Reds U9s! ⚽🔥

After a short break, the boys are looking forward to getting back out on the pitch, seeing the team together again, and building towards an exciting new season ahead.

A great test, a great opportunity, and most importantly, another chance for the lads to enjoy their football, work hard for each other and represent the Cyclones with pride. 🌪️

There may even be a little bit of friendly touchline banter too, with Adrian & Jonny leading the Cyclones and Stephen & Gavin in the De La Salle Reds corner. Four coaches, two teams, one friendly… and probably a few laughs along the way! 🤝😂⚽

⚽ A Football Festival, with a twist, is coming to Stapleton Avenue!

We are excited to launch the Astley Bridge Bonanza Tournament 2026 — three weekends packed with grassroots football, team spirit, smiles, competition and memories for players across U7s to U12s.

With a focus on the 5v5 format there should be more opportunity to get a team together, more minutes for those that play and a break from the norm.

🖤💛 Cyclones U9s Start Pre-Season with Energy, Effort & Team Spirit 🌪️⚽

Monday 6th July 2026

After a well-earned two-week break, the Astley Bridge Cyclones U9s kicked off pre-season in style—and what a start it was! 🖤💛⚽

The lads arrived full of energy, eager to get back on the pitch, and they certainly didn’t disappoint. From the first whistle to the last, they showed fantastic attitude, excellent behaviour, and gave 100% in every drill.

It wasn’t just the effort that stood out—it was the team spirit too. The boys were constantly encouraging each other, celebrating the good moments, and showing exactly what being part of the Cyclones is all about.

Tonight also marked Jonny’s debut coaching session with the boys. Safe to say he did a great job… although his fitness might need a bit of pre-season too, as he had to be substituted during the end-of-session match! 😂

We also welcomed a couple of new faces who came along to give Astley Bridge a try. Both lads settled in brilliantly and had excellent sessions—we hope they enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed having them.

A massive well done to Jonny on his first session, and an even bigger well done to every single one of the boys. A fantastic way to start pre-season—let’s keep working hard, keep enjoying our football, and the rewards will follow.
