Harwood Golf Club

It’s not all about the golf …….
Saturday 5th September was an exceptional day at Harwood for many reasons. It was our annual Kings & Queens golf day and a special day in our Centenary Calendar as we held a Treasure Hunt for the children and grand-children of members and also buried a Time Capsule near our newly installed Half Way House.
But we also witnessed an outstanding fund-raising event by two of our chattiest women members. Jayne Murray and Marion Nolan are known for their constant chatter, so when they challenged each other to a round of golf played in complete silence no-one thought they would succeed. But against the odds they did and raised over £2,500 for Parkinson’s UK in the process. Their round was adjudicated throughout by various club members and “gaffer” tape applied as they started. A huge thank you is due to all those who generously supported Jayne and Marion by donating to this very worthy cause. And well done Girls! You’ve proved us all wrong!! You don’t have talk all the time!!

CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS

We had a fantastic day yesterday, Saturday 5th September, at our King and Queen’s Golf competition, Winnie the Pooh Treasure Hunt, Centenary Time Capsule Burial and the formal opening of our Centenary Half Way House. We had almost 40 children booked onto our Winnie the Pooh Treasure Hunt and thank you to Willow who baked a cake for us all to share. They children also placed their items in the Time Capsule to be opened in 2076.

Thank you to everyone who helped to organise the events and to all of those who supported them. It was a lovely day with lots of memories made.

Don’t forget to bring your children’s and grandchildren’s items for the Time Capsule.

FAMILY SOCIAL

Well what a hit the family social was last night. Great to see lots of old and new faces all enjoying the music, dancing and some fantastic karaoke! (Especially a great rendition of Valerie by our fabulous Bar Team).

Thank you to the fantastic DJ Hutchy who kept us entertained all night - we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Kings & Queens Postponed

Unfortunately due to the awful weather forecast for today we have had to take the decision to postpone the King and Queens golf competition along with the Treasure Hunt and Time Capsule Burial and Cugini Pizza will also not be attending.

The free family social this evening WILL STILL BE TAKING PLACE and we would hope that you can support this event.

Once again we apologise for this but the decision has been made with everyone’s safety being our top priority.

Your support for the social, after having had to take such a difficult decision, and after all the hard work that has been undertaken by many volunteers would be appreciated.

We hope you will still join us for a good night out.

Children’s Halloween Party

We will again this year be holding our very popular Children’s Halloween Party on Saturday 31st October 3pm - 6pm. £10 for a family of 4. Open to Members only and their guests.

Tickets will be available from the bar from mid September onwards.
