⛳ A look back at the history of Deane Golf Club 🌹

Founded in 1906, Deane Golf Club has enjoyed more than a century of golf in Bolton. The club officially opened on 20 June 1906, beginning with 170 men and an impressive 100 ladies among its membership.

The club has experienced plenty of change over the years. Its original clubhouse was destroyed by fire in 1915 and rebuilt in 1920, while financial pressures later saw the course reduced to nine holes before it was proudly restored to 18 holes in 1971.
Deane also hosted memorable celebrity golf events for Lancashire cricketer Harry Pilling in 1974 and footballer Norman Hunter in 1975. In 2001, the club secured its future by purchasing the course land from the Duke of Norfolk’s Estate for £475,000.

The club celebrated its centenary in 2006 with a fortnight of competitions and events – marking 100 years of history, resilience and golf at Deane. ⛳🌹
