Moss Bank Junior Football Club Girls

It is with the deepest sadness and the heaviest of hearts that we share the devastating news that Curtiss, one of our U12s Blues coaches, sadly passed away yesterday.

Curtiss was so much more than a coach at Moss Bank Junior Football Club. He was a valued, friendly, loyal and committed member of our Moss Bank family who gave so much of his time, energy and passion to the club. As a dedicated coach, he touched the lives of countless young people, inspiring, encouraging and supporting them both on and off the pitch. His impact will continue to be felt by so many players and families for years to come.

Curtiss was also a proud and dedicated sponsor of the club, always willing to support Moss Bank in any way he could. His generosity, commitment and unwavering belief in what we do will never be forgotten.

He was respected and liked by everyone. Not only was Curtiss admired by his fellow coaches and volunteers at Moss Bank, but he was also held in high regard by grassroots coaches and managers from across the - The friendships and respect he earned throughout grassroots football are a testament to the kind of person he was.

Our love, thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with his wife Becky, his two children Sam and Luke, and all of his family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.

Curtiss will leave a massive void in all of our lives. His kindness, friendship, loyalty and dedication to grassroots football will never be forgotten, and he will forever remain a cherished member of the Moss Bank family.

Everyone at Moss Bank Junior Football Club would like to say a massive congratulations to our very own Eliza, who has signed for Manchester United Women RTC after being spotted by their scouts while playing in goal for our U10s Reds last season. 🌟

This is an incredible achievement and a testament to Eliza’s hard work, dedication and talent. We have no doubt this is just the beginning of a very exciting football journey, and she’s certainly a name we’ll all be keeping a close eye on over the coming years.

Whilst the now U11s Reds will undoubtedly miss having such a fantastic goalkeeper between the sticks, we couldn’t be prouder to see one of our own take this amazing next step.

Good luck, Eliza! Go and enjoy every minute of the journey ahead. Remember, wherever football takes you, you’ll always be a Moss Banker. 💚💙

The Gary Russell Award is presented each year to a young person who has overcome adversity, exceeded expectations, shown outstanding resilience, demonstrated true friendship, and embodied the values that make our club so special.

This year’s recipient is Hudson from our U7s Greens.

Hudson has shown incredible resilience, determination and grit throughout a season that most young players could never imagine. After breaking his leg on two separate occasions during the season, many would have found it difficult to stay involved with the game they love.

But not Hudson.

Even while recovering in a wheelchair and on crutches, he never stopped supporting his teammates. He continued to attend training sessions and matches, cheering on his friends and remaining an important part of the team. That commitment, positivity and loyalty speaks volumes about the young man he is.

Hudson is a shining example of what Moss Bank Junior Football Club is all about. He has faced enormous challenges with courage, battled through a long and difficult recovery not once, but twice, and has come back stronger than ever.

We would also like to recognise his fantastic parents, Taylor and Neil. They have been alongside Hudson every step of the way, through countless hospital visits, difficult days and months of rehabilitation. It has been incredibly tough watching their son unable to play the game he loves, but together they have shown remarkable strength and unwavering support.

Hudson, your determination, courage, friendship and love for your teammates make you a truly deserving recipient of this award.

We know that if Gary were looking down today, he would be immensely proud of everything you have overcome and the inspiring young person you have become.

Congratulations, Hudson. This award is thoroughly deserved.
