What an awesome Sunday lunchtime!

Today we held the Yak Summer Celebration, with around 60 of the Yak family coming together for some pad demonstrations and pizza.

All students showed great skill and progress in their training, and personally I feel hugely grateful for the time our students and their parents/carers devote to this amazing sport week in week out.

Thanks to everyone who came along, especially the kids for showing bravery in their pad demos, and representing the club in a very positive and respectful way. 💚

June ‘26 @ Yak Thai Boxing

What a month! So many highlights and so many milestone achievements for the Yak Family 💚

We launched two new classes on a Thursday:
Kids (5-10yrs) @ 6:15pm
Mixed Teens & Adults @ 7:15pm
Both are extremely busy and it’s been a particular pleasure watching the parents exploring Muay Thai alongside their teen sons & daughters in the new Thursday class.

Our main topic this month was Muay Khao - focussing on knee strikes and effective clinchwork. Both kids and teens growing in confidence with clinching, culminating with a solid teen clinch sparring session on the last Friday of June. All students left June with new clinch techniques to explore and a newfound use for tennis balls🎾 (if you know you know!)

Our Tuesday kids class took their first steps into sparring (biggest smiles I’ve seen from the group!)

We braved the heatwave with the help of AC and some cheeky ice creams 🍦

And finally, the long awaited Member’s Guides arrived, giving our students more to read on the science of eight limbs, and showing them the many ways to explore and grow.

As always, a huge thank you to the parents who bring their kids to train with us week after week, and to the students that show up with 100% effort and an eagerness to learn.

May ‘26 @ Yak Thai Boxing

A slightly later post this month due to a busy June start with two new Thursday classes 👀

May saw real progress for all our students:
- we focussed on increased agility and kicking balance with the kids (5-10yrs). The speed of development in this group is awesome to see and the classes continue to be busy with lots of dedicated students.
- teens (11-16yrs) were focussing on their Muay Femur skills, learning about distance, timing and controlled aggression. We have a very talented group of teens and it’s nice to see the numbers growing in this group too, particular with a lot of new female students showing tonnes of potential.
- the adults continue to work through basic skills and fitness, helping each other to work towards their own individual goal inside and outside the ring.

Credit due to two of our more advanced teens who attended the Sandee Intercontinental Open and made us all proud, putting on very strong performances against some tough opponents.

June is already looking like another great month at Yak, and the family continues to grow.

Yak Fight Team back in action …..

Last Saturday we had the honour of joining some of the most accomplished gyms in the UK and Europe at the Sandee Open in Barnsley. A very long day with top quality talent on show - 254 fighters from 53 gyms.

As always, both lads representing Yak fought with heart and true fighting spirit, both putting in a decent five rounds against tough opponents.

Like real champions they’re already planning for the next fight opportunity….watch this space.

April ‘26 @ Yak Thai Boxing 🥊

Another awesome month at Yak:
- confidence, respect and effort on show in every class
- all the students in our very busy kids class progressing well and starting to show reall skill to match their efforts in every session.
- teens working hard as usual with lots of technical sparring, and lots of new joiners too
- we attended our first interclub with a great showing from two of our teens
- the adults class continues to grow and it’s really nice seeing some of the kids/teens’ parents giving thai boxing a try
- we also invested in some new equipment to keep pushing the progress and honing those skills.

The Yak Family continues to grow….we’re going to need a bigger mat!
