Another FA cup game… this time it’s the first qualifying round and we’re at home again

RECORD-BREAKING ROCKS! ⚪️🟢

The record-breaking Bognor U16 Girls team bowed out with an exhibition game and their final presentation at Nyewood Lane.

The team were formed as U9s in 2018, and in their five seasons of competitive football from U12s won five successive Sussex Premier League titles and appeared in six Cup Finals, winning two.

The longevity and togetherness of the team was highlighted by the fact that four players at the final match had been with the club since the beginning — and eight had been together for seven years.

The final squad amassed over 2000 appearances for the club between them in all matches and were just short of 1000 total goals. Over the five league winning seasons the team’s record was played 74, won 66 drew 2, lost 6.

The final end of season awards went to Ava W as Players’ Player, Issy C as Parents’ Player and Julia N as Manager’s Player, with Izzy E the season’s top scorer. Manager Matt Swanson was also awarded Lifetime Membership of the Sussex County League for outstanding voluntary service on the League Committee.

We wish all the girls the best of luck with their continued footballing journey beyond the Bognor youth set up, with three now joining the women’s team at Bognor, along with keeper coach Rodrigo Castanheira, and four have joined the newly formed Chichester City.

Elsewhere players are now representing Worthing and Fareham U18 and Portsmouth U16s. Coaches Matt and Tom English thanked the team’s entourage for their support over the years, and particularly Mike and Carol Taylor-Brett, and Andy Weir and Steve Lawson for their help over the years in providing the fantastic platform for the girls section of Bognor youth.

Just two weekends left to join the Supporters Club and win a free season ticket.

Not only that but we had record numbers through the gate and a queue to the door for Seasons bar 🍻

Nando’s, Bognor Regis, have kindly donated our player of the match prizes for the season. Nando’s Manager, Lauren, presented Sophie Humphrey with a Nandos voucher, a bottle of Prosecco and bottle of Peri Peri sauce 👏🏼

The team are incredible and we are so proud of them and their performance today, winning 4-0 against Steyning.

We also could not have had such an amazing day without all our wonderful volunteers to help us on match days and all the days leading up to it. We are so very grateful to everyone.

We are through to the next round and would love to see as many fans support us again.
