Bognor Rugby Football Club

Bognor Rugby Football Club are very sad to inform club members and the wider of the death of Alan Cockburn on Sunday 23 August.

Alan was a man of the North who had travelled south to pursue a teaching career.

He was the first captain of Bognor RFC and led the team in the inaugural club game at Seaford in 1965.

He played at full back and fly half.
Off the field he will be remembered by many as a language teacher at a number of local schools including Bognor and St Philip Howard.

Those who played with him, taught with him and were taught by him will have very fond memories of his great friendship, warmth and support.

He will be greatly missed, and our thoughts, prayers and condolences are with his family, at this time 🖤

Today, these three talented U15 players attend their final assessment for the Foundation Programme. By Friday, they’ll know just how far their hard work, tenacity, determination and commitment have taken them.

Whatever the outcome, they’ve already done themselves, their families, their coaches, and Bognor Rugby Football Club incredibly proud.

🏉 THE WAIT CONTINUES…

Due to the on-going extreme drought, the RFU has delayed the start of the 2026/27 season and confirmed that competitive community rugby will now begin the week commencing Monday 21 September.

We know it’s frustrating.
We’ve all been waiting for that first whistle, the matchday shenanigans, the tackles, the tries and celebrations.

More importantly, we can’t wait to have the back!

But grassroots rugby is built on one thing: togetherness, and Bognor Rugby Football Club is the best at representing this!
