Client Soph had just moved house and completely fallen off the wagon. Busy, life kept getting in the way and the gym was always the first thing to get dropped when plans changed.

We didn’t start with a strict plan. We started with a small deficit, more protein and a shift from daily calories to weekly ones, so one busy day didn’t undo everything.

In one month she lost 16cm across her whole body and 2kg. But the bit I’m most proud of is that she went from barely managing 4 press ups to hitting 8. Her strength doubled.

No starvation, no rigid rules, just a plan built around her actual life.

If you want your first pull-up you need to be using the assisted pull-up machine!

ABOUT:
Unlike other machines the heavier you go the easier it is because it pushes you up as you go. Step up and get your hands on first as it will drop down as soon as you’re on it. Lower yourself down slowly using your core. From hanging with knees on pad, pull yourself up to the top nice and slow on the way down too. To get off, foot down and bring the weight back up slowly so it’s loaded fresh for the next person.

Little secret most people don’t know.
If you have your pull-up, or want to use for dead hangs, you can use it without the pad too, just pull out and drop it down slowly and go from standing.

Use this alongside other pulling exercises and not instead of them. Things like Lat pulldowns, rows and dead hangs all build the same muscles from different angles and the assisted machine on its own won’t get you there as fast.

For example, Pair it with pulldowns for that same pulling pattern and rows for back strength, and dead hangs to build your grip and shoulder stability. Progress on all of them together and your first pull-up comes a lot quicker.

DM REALIGN if you want a proper plan to build up to your first pull-up.

Your weight can jump 5lbs and nothing’s actually changed.

So DON’T stress and change everything just yet. Give it a week, or even 2 before doing anything different.

High stress raises cortisol and cortisol can affect how your body manages fluid. That means a stressful week poor sleep or a disrupted routine can genuinely show up as extra water on the scale even when your training and food haven’t changed.

It’s easy to panic when the number jumps but the scale reflects a lot more than just what you’ve eaten. Life stress plays a part too.

Follow for more on the things that actually affect your weight besides food and training.

Three sessions a week. That’s what built my strength and it’s what I build client’s programmes around too.

More days in the gym doesn’t mean more progress. What matters is what happens in the sessions you do have and whether you’re consistent with them.

Full body. Progressive overload. No hours on cardio you hate. No walking in and guessing what to do.

This isn’t a shortcut. It’s what actually works when you’ve got a job, a life and a limited amount of time to give.

If you want a plan built around the time you actually have DM me REALIGN.
