🟠 BEBSIDE SPORTING CLAYS — ANOTHER CRACKING DAY! 🟠

What a day at Bebside! 😎 The weather was absolutely fantastic for this time of year, the targets were flying, and there was plenty of the usual questionable shooting and even more questionable excuses. 😂

We had a steady 39 entries for the Sporting, which is a great turnout. Then came the All Round… and trying to get you lot to shoot anything other than Sporting is like pulling teeth. 🦷😂

We eventually managed 17 All Round entries, although only 15 of those were members. Come on lads, broaden your horizons — the targets aren’t going to bite you… although some of the scores might. 🤣

🏆 THE ALL ROUND

For those brave enough to have a go, the All Round consisted of:

🎯 25 DTL — Single Barrel
🎯 25 ABT
🎯 50 Sporting

And taking the bragging rights for the day with a fantastic 86/100 was Stuart Dawson 🏆👏

Stu’s heed and gob are already big enough, so we’re fairly confident we’ll be hearing about this result for the foreseeable future. 😂

Congratulations Stu — enjoy your moment. We’ll all be hoping for a catastrophic return to form next time. 😘

Another varied and entertaining selection of targets today, with plenty to keep everyone guessing.

The simo pair on the 3rd stand seemed to be particularly popular… although whether that was because you enjoyed shooting it or because it was the first pair you actually hit is open to debate. 😂

Ian Mullarkey took the Sporting honours with a superb 44/50. 👏🎯

💰 SPORTRAP POT UPDATE!

Then onto the Sportrap, where David Blackburn posted the best score of the day with 22/25.

Which means… YES, YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS!

💰 ANOTHER £5 GOES INTO THE PRIZE POT! 💰

That takes the pot to a rather tasty £265!

And remember, there’s a life-changing amount of money waiting for whoever can finally pull off that elusive 25/25.

At this rate, we’ll all be retired before someone manages it. 😂

🎯 BEBside Sporting Clays – ALL ROUND TOMORROW! 🎯

Tomorrow we’re at Bebside Sporting Clays for the Club All Round Competition — and it’s looking like a good one! 💥

The All Round consists of:

🔫 25 DTL Single Barrel
🔫 25 ABT
🎯 50 Sporting

We’ve already got 2 full squads and plenty of room on the 3rd squad. If we get enough interest, we’ll even start a 4th squad — so there’s absolutely no excuse! 😜

And yes… you can sign up on the day.
No booking weeks in advance, no fancy excuses, no blaming the dog — just turn up and shoot! 😂

🏆 There are no prizes on the day, BUT these scores count towards your yearly average and, more importantly, towards the overall club winners at the end of the year.

So if you’ve been quietly thinking “I might have a go at the All Round this year”… tomorrow is your chance. And if it goes badly, remember: it’s only the score that counts towards your average, not the amount of abuse you receive in the clubhouse afterwards. 🤣

🎯 BEBSIDE SPORTING CLAYS – TODAY’S SHOOT 🎯

Well… 38 shooters turned up today, which isn’t exactly what you’d call a stampede! 😂

We’re hoping the slightly disappointing turnout had something to do with the biblical rain between 10am and 12pm. 🌧️☔ Honestly, Noah would have been looking for the boat.

If you decided to stay at home, you missed out because today’s targets were fantastic, entertaining and a proper variety. There was something to frustrate absolutely everyone — which, as you know, is how we like it! 😜

A quick explanation for those who noticed Bob was a little late getting the entries taken. We were struggling to get the shoot running on time this morning. We had just THREE volunteers turn up to help with the setup, and when you throw in a couple of blown fuses, remotes deciding they’d rather not participate and the usual little gremlins, it creates a knock-on effect.

I ask for volunteers every week, but unfortunately it’s always the same few faces doing the graft. So, a massive thank you to those who did turn up and get stuck in. 👍

For everyone else… you know where we are. 😏
The targets don’t set themselves, you know!

🔥 SPORTRAP 🔥

The Sportrap was another belter, with targets that certainly gave the better shooters something to think about.

The simo pair of the battue and looper on Peg 3 was an absolute standout — a cracking pair and easily one of the highlights of the day.

And now, as promised, a special mention for Ray WRay Wintripy was understandably a little disheartened after shooting 2/8 on Stand 4 — yes Ray, THAT stand… the allegedly easy one! 😂

But what happened next deserves some serious credit.

Ray absolutely smashed it on the Sportrap, hitting every single simo pair. He only dropped two teals and a battue to finish on 22/25.

That was the highest score of the day, equalled by StuarStuart Dawson
Stu’s 22, however, perhaps wasn’t quite as aesthetically pleasing as Ray’s… Stu appeared to adopt the “spray enough pellets in the general direction and eventually some of them will hit” technique. 😂

Still, a 22 is a 22 — we’re not checking pellet trajectories! 😉

Unfortunately, there was no 25/25, so the prize pot rolls over and we’ll add another £5 to it.

So get yourselves down to Bebside, bring your cartridges, bring your waterproofs, and preferably bring your shooting ability as well.

And if you’ve got a spare morning, come and volunteer. We genuinely need the help, and it would be nice to see some new faces doing the graft rather than the same poor sods every week! 😂

🌿🔫 WHEN YOU ASK FOR A LITTLE PRUNING… 😂

All I did was ask our Head Groundsman, Ray Wintrip, to “prune a couple of branches” off a bush so I could throw a decent crosser…

Well… Ray heard “obliterate all shrubbery within a 40ft radius.” 🤣

Safe to say, I’ve now got rather more space than I was expecting! 🌳💥

So, let’s see what I can do with my brand-new throwing ground this Sunday… 👀

🚨 THE MADNESS IS OVER… FOR NOW! 🚨

After an absolutely bonkers August at Bebside Sporting Clays with the 5-Man Team Shoot and our 100 Target Open Shoot, we’re pleased to announce that the volunteers have survived, the trap batteries are getting a rest, and we can finally take our foot off the gas! 😂

That means it’s back to our normal club shoots this coming Sunday 6th September!

There’ll be a completely fresh set of targets waiting for you, with something to entertain everyone from C Class right through to A Class.
