Gyms are finally reopening 🙏 which means:
- Back to work ✅
- Continue PT with the rest of my clients ✅
- Some extremely last minute training before my holiday in 3 weeks 😬
- Get some of my personality back 😂
On a serious note though, this is great news for those who have been struggling with their confidence and mental health during lockdown - some people have managed to maintain their fitness and even improve on it but many, myself included, regressed without the routine and facilities of the gym.
If you need some help getting your fitness back, or starting a new regime, please drop me a DM or message 07880347870

Before lockdown my personal goal was to improve my strength through compound movements.
Due to a lack of heavy weights I have available i have had to adapt my training towards muscular endurance by increasing the repetitions, sets and slowing down particular movements to engage the contraction of the muscles.
This is a simple and effective way of maintaining as much as you can, so that when gyms eventually open up, you haven’t lost all the progress you worked so hard to get.
If you are at the beginning of your fitness journey this is also a great way to get your body used to these movements and get your confidence up before you set foot in a gym or have your first PT session.

I’ve been involved in the fitness industry for over 3 years and there have been many obstacles towards becoming a PT and reaching my own goals, but I’ve never experienced a mental block like I have over the past month.
I’ve really struggled to motivate myself, which is hard to accept as my job is to motivate others and get them to where they want to be. But, if I’m struggling I’m willing to bet there are loads of you who are also not sure how to cope with the current situation. I imagine it’s been difficult for many without the equipment, social aspect and routine of the gym to work towards their goals.
Yesterday i decided to make a plan towards overcoming this negative attitude and stop feeling sorry for myself. Everyone is trying to cope in their own way and you should do what you feel is right for you and not feel guilty if you don’t wish to exercise. But for me personally, I have realised that I need to be exercising to maintain mental wellness.

At times like these relaxing and enjoying yourself is just as important as exercise for keeping you sane, working out the balance is the hard part 😂

First proper run since the marathon, which is almost 2 years ago now 😂, didn’t quite make 26 miles but I’m not really a runner and I don’t particularly enjoy it, but at the moment we’ve got to make do with what we’ve got 🤷♂️

So home workouts it is...
I understand it is not ideal, especially if you have little equipment, but on a positive note having lighter weights is going to encourage me to concentrate on my core and cardio, which I tend to ignore.
If you’re stuck on what you can do with your fitness at home please don’t hesitate to message me, I can help you out.
