Formed in 1886 and founder members of the Northern League, Bishop Auckland Football Club is based at Heritage Park, opened in 2010, following a move from their historic Kingsway ground which was shared with the local cricket club. The club is most famous for winning the FA Amateur Cup 10 times including three times in a row in 1955, 56 and 57. In 1958 three of our players Derek Lewin, Warren Bradley and Bobby Hardisty went to Manchester United to help them following the Munich air disaster. Bradley who was an England amateur international, became a regular United 1st team player and went on to play at full international level. Our page will keep our regular supporters and the wider community informed of news, matches and events at the Club and provide a forum for comments and discussion.

It’s always great to see so many old friends back at the club and Friday night was no exception, with players from the 1960’s through to the 1990’s catching up on old times.

It was particularly good to see three of the magnificent 1966-67 side in attendance – Peter Cook, Bill Roughley and John Barker (second image).

🇬🇧 BATTLE OF BRITAIN EVENT

Another fantastic and successful event organised by the BA Veterans Group (BAVG), with their Battle of Britain event once again a complete sell-out.

It was a privilege to welcome 90-year-old Army veteran Ron Starling, who spoke about his time serving on Christmas Island during the atomic bomb testing.

Ron shared his experiences in his own words, assisted by Tony Atkinson, who helped narrate his remarkable story.

A huge thank you also to Phil, Chloe and Debbie for providing another amazing lunch, and to everyone who attended and supported the event.

Bishop Auckland FC is proud to support the brilliant work of the BA Veterans Group. 💙

🎙️ PLAYER REACTION | Gary Martin

Goalscorer Gary Martin reflects on a tough Tuesday night in Cumbria after Bishop Auckland came away from Carlisle City with a 2-1 victory.

Gary opened the scoring as the Bishops made a strong start, before Lee Hume doubled the advantage early in the second half.

Carlisle made Bishop work for the three points, putting plenty of direct balls into the box and applying pressure late in the game, but the lads dug in to secure another important league victory.

Gary talks about dealing with the physical side of the game, the work required from the forwards without the ball and why, despite adding another goal himself, it doesn't matter who scores as long as the team keeps winning.

🎙️ MANAGER REACTION | Martin Gray

Martin Gray gives his thoughts after Bishop Auckland came away from Carlisle City with a hard-earned 2-1 victory on Tuesday night.

Gary Martin gave the Bishops the lead after a strong start before Lee Hume doubled the advantage early in the second half following some patient build-up play.

Carlisle pulled one back and made the closing stages uncomfortable, with plenty of direct pressure and balls into the Bishop box. Gray felt his side dealt well with that threat overall, but admitted they should have found the third goal to put the game beyond doubt.

And with just seconds remaining, Shane Bland produced a magnificent save to make sure all three points came back to Bishop Auckland.

The manager also discusses the demanding run of fixtures, the squad's response, Liam Potter getting more minutes and preparations for the next home game against Redcar Town.
