AJX Athletico W vs L Greatham FC.

Match-1

Today seen the Athletico kids play against a good Greatham side. Another match in very windy conditions, we made sure we kept the ball on the floor as much as possible. The kids started the first half really well. Passing the ball from the back and working our way up the field to create goal scoring opportunities. Great first half and scored some really good goals.
Second half we again started really well but i feel we where trying to force the goal to much and better decisions could have been taking from the kids. Especially when they got the extra player advantage. Nevertheless we still played really well.
Overall it was a great team performance and it shows when every outfield players gets on the scoresheet and the keeper keeps a clean sheet. 👏.
Only bad bit of the day is when Charlie went off injured. Hoping for a speedy recovery and the kids are all behind you.

With a changed squad Athletico started the second match with the same intensity as the first match. Everyone linked up really well with again some great passing. Good to hear voices on the pitch as well wanting the ball. We were very strong at the back where we controlled the game and our wingers worked hard up and down the pitch. How Erdem didnt score I don’t know. But positive thing is he was in the right position for them chances.
Overall some great football being played, kids are getting more confident on the ball and improving with every game played.

AJX FC Athletico L vs Stockdon W

Challenging game today for Athletico against a strong Stockdon team. First half boys started very slow and allowed Stockdon to take control early on. With a lack of communication and intensity come halftime the lads found themselves with a mountain to climb to get back in the game.

Halftime team talked seemed to help as second half boys matched Stockdon intensity, got themselves back into the game with goals from Isaac and Ethan. Boys continued to push and played much better which is good to see, but overall credit to Stockdon who were better team today and good luck with the rest of the season.

Result: Darlington W - L AJX

Not the start we so eagerly anticipated after a delayed start to our season.

We started the game relatively well creating chances and Oliver going extremely close with a shot from distance. The resulting corner saw us concede with a quick counter attack from darlo.

In the second half, we felt like we just needed to find a goal to kick start us into gear. Frustratingly it never came and in similar fashion darlo nicked a scrappy goal. This knocked the stuffing out of us and disappointingly the boys seemed to give up for the last 10 or so minutes.

Result: AJX FC 'Barca' 3 - 0 Redcar Town

The lads faced a team they got beat off in a tournament final back in July time although Barca boys knew they were the better side and it showed today as Barca were on it again with some really positive play trying to play really good football rather than long ball direct which Redcar resorted to in the first half. Two first half goals gave Barca the advantage with goals from O.Snaith.

2nd half with the wind we had a clear message to try not and use this as a direct route and keep playing football, which they did. Redcar had a couple of half chances and to give credit to Redcar they have been the better side Barca have faced this year and will take points off alot of teams.

A great individual turn and goal by K.Jerzyk who turned around half way line to drive forward, created his angle and easily slot home for the third.

AJX Barca 1-2 Bishop

The lads welcomed Bishop St Mary’s to King James.

The game started quick with both teams up for it and going toe to toe. Bishop gave AJX an early warning sign when a chance flashed past the post.
AJX started creating chances of their own with Ritchie putting one over. Minutes later he finished a similar chance to put AJX 1-0 up. Bishop were rattled to say the least and their supporters.

Second half started and again both teams were battling hard, working hard both and off the ball. St Mary’s were applying pressure but Josh marshalled the back line fantastically! An unfortunate period of play saw two lads get injured, play continued and a quality ball into the box was met with a great header for the equaliser. Subs had to be made due to the injuries and before we had chance to settle again St Mary’s found themselves on the end of a lucky bounce to go 2-1 up.
AJX kept pushing and continued to play football ignoring the noise and vocals from the side lines. Proud of the lads coming up and showing what a team we are, never giving up and battling to the end.

A great effort from the lads today as we faced Durham United FC.

The game started with a couple early chances for Durham, with some excellent saves from Liam. After a defence splitting pass Durham then opened the scoring making it 0-1 at halftime.

In the second half, Durham continued to press and added 2 further goals. The lads pushed hard and at times showed some lovely passing. They worked hard and tried but unfortunately it wasn't our day.

Player of the Match: ⭐ Charlie Bradley - he covered the whole pitch today. Playing CDM he was constantly closing Durham players down and breaking play.

AJX FC Barca W vs L Beamish Raiders

3rd League game of the season for the Barca lads today. A very windy morning which tested the lads reading of the ball on bounces and how it travelled.

Came up an against a strong defensively set beamish side, but we started the game strong and went on the attack looking to get that opening goal. In training we’ve been working on running into space and working the ball to get on the attack as quick as possible and the boys took what we learnt in practice into the game today. We managed to grab a goal after Teddie struck the ball and their keeper pulled off a great save for Archie to be the first to react and slot it away to give us the lead.

Half time I said I wanted very much the same as the first half look for that pass and keep moving the ball quickly.

2nd half came and we continued our pressure and cause their keeper to pull off save after save. We also kept up our passing which IMO was the best passing display this team has shown to date. Even with our passing I still encourage kids to take people on and our second came from Oscar’s brilliant dribble in from the wing and powered the ball straight past their keeper.

A great overall game from the lads today and a one to be proud of. Even the opposition coach praised our lads at the end and said ‘you’ve got a cracking team there’ which he is right these lads impress me week in week out.

AJX Madrid W vs L Hebburn Town Blues Madrid U8’s

Back in league action this morning in breezy conditions, looking for our first win and to kick start the season.
First half we started great passing the ball along the floor, creating chances just no end product but the positive thing was they were in the right place and made the right decisions just some defending and saves from their keeper.

Second half we kept going still playing great football, working for each other and their efforts finally paid off by scoring a well worked goal.

Overall it was a great game of football to watch from both sides. We did great all over the pitch and Lincoln made some cracking saves and deserved his clean sheet. Everyone kid played out their skin today. Well done kids!

Madrid boys looking to continue a positive start to the season this morning, message to the team before the game was to not hesitate and to take chances/risks and the boys “took that personal”

First half lads came flying out of the blocks, implemented a ton of chances, found themselves ahead early and never looked back.

Second half I challenged the boys to maintain/increase their level as I felt they could play much better in certain areas. Boys listened responded really well and ended the game with a solid clean sheet as well as 5 different goal scorers today. Cracking start for Madrid and hoping the boys can continue this form!

AJX U9 Barca L vs Boldon CAFF W

Cracking game today for the Barca boys against a very strong Boldon team. After realizing in warm the strengths of Boldon with their passing the boys knew the importance of man marking but also working extremely hard to disrupt their game. First half for me was one of the best half’s I’ve seen from the team. The half started with Ethan scoring a cracking solo goal and the boys matching Boldon in every aspect of the game. Boldon remained patient and found themselves level right before half time.

2nd half remained close with both teams scoring leaving an interesting final 10 minutes. Credit to Boldon who were able to move the ball better as well as winning their individual 1v1 battles to score late goals cementing their deserved win.

Overall very happy with the lads who are coming up against some great teams but playing good football and making their own decisions count in games.

We’re getting slowly better every week. I felt we were the better team and started off well by going taking the lead through a Jay strike.

Unfortunately we didn’t defend well enough and conceded within a minute. And it seemed to affect us slightly as we were a bit slow after that.

We managed to go into half time ahead after a Leo attacked the ball from a corner.

After half time I felt we defended better and deservedly went 3-1 up with a lovely controlled finish from Reuben after a good team move.

Leo almost added to the score but the bar and 2 saves from the keeper thwarted him.

We did ok today but there’s definitely still room for improvement.

Another win today but we didn’t play that well gave away some sloppy goals but still got the win with hard work and determination. Durham United FC u11s Lions L - W AJX FC u11s Athletico

A great effort from the lads today as we faced Durham United FC u11s Lions.

The game started with an early goal from Durham against the run off play. Athletico then woke up and got back into the game with Jack opening their scoring. After pushing their keeper into several saves, the first half finished level.

The second half started with Athletico going ahead after 5 minutes thanks to a goal from Cooper. Durham managed to get back into it within a couple minutes, levelling the score again. The team showed determination to get the win though and pushed on to score 2 more goals without reply, from Cooper and Matthew.

Oscar in goal pulled off some excellent saves. James and Isaac were solid in defence throughout and protected the goal.

Midfield of Ozzy, Wladziu, Cooper, Matthew, Ellis and Freddie (debut) all battled hard and didn't give Durham any time on the ball. They all showed plenty of skill.

Jack playing upfront constantly pestered the Durham defence and helped himself to a goal.

Date: Saturday 19th September

A game vs a team we know very well and always a close game and today was no different.

The game started with AJX having good possession from the off and literally scoring with excellent combinations within the first 2 minutes to set the game up though J. Williams. After that Athletico continue to seek a 2nd but we could find the net. Hartlepool got back in the game when they took an early corner that went straight in and followed this up with a quick 2nd. Heading into the last 5 min they added a 3rd with a direct goal kick that Athletico didnt deal with.

3 - 1 at H/T

A good talk at half time about how good we actually had been in the first half and remaining positive about the 2nd. We told the boys they would win this 4 or 5 - 3 if they kept playing like they had been an minimised any mistakes. And thats what they did with an excellent hatrick from K.Jerzyk with the last of them being a lifted finish to land neatly in the net for the winner.

AJX Madrid 1-5 AJX Valencia

Today saw the battle of the 2 AJX teams in the league.

Valencia started really well today and we’re at it from the off. Taking an early lead when Ritchie was played through by fraz to pus us ahead. Ritchie doubled his tally shortly after when Zaine won the ball in the middle and found Ritchie in behind again who fired low and hard to double the lead. Then a good move down the left saw a well worked goal from Zaine, Edward and Ritchie who squared it in the box and it was slotted home by Will. The fourth came when Leo turned the defender brilliantly on the left and squared a pass to fraz who tapped in from close range.

Second half Madrid came into the game more and managed to get themselves a goal back while on top. It was a good battle all one the pitch today, But we found the net again late on when Theo won the ball in defence and slotted Ritchie through again to get his hat trick!

Really pleased with the lads today, first half they were clinical and the football was really good.
Hayden was brilliant again in goal, and unlucky not to get a clean sheet, but all the lads put a shift in and deserved the 3 points and win.

Chester Le Street Park View Blacks 1-3 AJX U14

An early start for the boys this morning and a good 3 points away from home.
AJX started brightly enjoying lots of the ball.
We were unlucky not to go ahead early with Harry’s effort going just wide after running onto a lovely through ball from Josh W.
We did however take the lead shortly after when Benny picked the ball up on the halfway line, he rode 3 or 4 tackles before driving into the box to bury his shot beyond the keeper , another wonderful goal from him.
CLS had a couple of long range efforts but our defence looked solid and Lincoln was nice and alert, dealing with any through balls superbly.
HT 0-1

2nd half we knew we needed another goal to get a bit of breathing space as CLS looked to get back into the game.
Against the run of play CLS equalised , with 15 mins left a clearance ricocheted off their player who was left with a simple tap in to get it to 1-1.

The body language from the AJX boys remained positive though and within 5 mins we retook the lead . Some great wing play from our new signing Aaron down the right seen him find Eddie in the box who turned and laid off for Josh W to fire home.
We then added a 3rd minutes later when a lovely free kick into the box from Josh O skimmed off the bar, the ball looked to be going out but somehow Benny acrobatically managed to keep it in and find Max who’s shot was parried by the keeper to Eddie who fired in to make it 3-1 and make sure of the points .

A good solid performance today from the lads , missing players and also with a couple of the boys not 100% fit ,we really worked for each other and got the rewards.

AJX Athletico W vs L Hartleoool phoenix reds (game 1)

A very dominant performance from start to finish. The boys started the game extremely strong. Winning the ball high up and putting us on the from front early on from a great finish from Charlie.

After the first goal the boys kept their foot on the gas and didn’t give hartlepool time to settle. We pressured and pressured keeping our shape really well when defending , tracking our runners and not letting the ball get passed us many times.

By the first half we were comfortably in charge of the game with a couple of kids getting on the score sheet.

Half time we spoke about not getting complacent and keeping our shape and not getting tunnel vision.

2nd half we did very much the same and playing their game of football. Some great saves from ours snf the opposition keeper but we were first to just about every ball and slotted a couple more goals in.

Overall a great performance in game one and a solid game for the lads to take into their next league game.

Every kid had a shout today but after scoring 12 goals his foot was on fire today and that goes to Charlie. Scored from every possible angle.

Another game for the lads after the first one. Again the lads put in a shift and dominated the game. Some great passing from the back to put the lads on the attack,

First half we got off the mark from a nice finish from erdem. We kept the shape well and some great defending from hunterr kept us a clean sheet going into the break after going a couple up.

Half time our chat was about passing and moving. Telling them the running off the ball is just as important as running with the ball. Looking for the easy options and keeping control of the game.

2nd half they listened well. Kept the high pressure and chasing everything down. Goals started to come thick and fast for Athletico from some great runs and finishing.

Unfortunately couldn’t keep the clean sheet after a great free kick from the opposition but by that time the game was well under our control.

A very well done to boys today, played some great balls. Some great defending and an over a great game.

This could have went to a couple today so I let the kids decide and it was a tie between albie and Hunter. Both deserved it but we let it go down to rock, paper scissors and albie came out the victor

We knew we were facing a Hartlepool side who had beaten us twice last season, so we knew we’d have to be at it from the start.

The lads dominated the opening stages, playing with real intensity and putting Hartlepool under pressure. We deservedly took the lead and continued to create opportunities, but Hartlepool managed to find a way back into the game, leaving us 1-1 at half time.

Early in the second half, Hartlepool found themselves in front at 2-1 as they started to find their feet. We had to weather that spell and stay in the game, but once we settled back into our usual 2-3-1 formation, we started to regain control and get a real stranglehold on the game.

From there, the lads grew stronger winning more individual duals, moved the ball better and started to find the spaces we’d been creating earlier in the game. The pressure eventually told as we got ourselves back level before continuing to push on.

As the game opened up, we played some really strong football and continued to create chances. The late goals capped off a fantastic response and gave us the result that (on the balance of the game) we deserved.

A particularly pleasing performance against a team who had got the better of us twice last season. The lads showed great character to respond when things weren’t going our way and, once we found our rhythm again, showed how good they can be. The real test is finding consistency!

Result: AJX FC 'Barca' 5 - 2 Richmond Town

A great effort from the lads today as we faced a familiar team Richmond Town who have been close games with previously. However, Barca were on it yet again with some excellent play and goals. First goal was a really well taken goal and watched it curve into the far corner by L.Airey and a further goals by T.Cottrell & K.Jerzyk made it 3 nil at half time.

2nd half we spoke about managing the game when we made changes and dont let this impact the game. The lads stood firm and whilst we conceded 2 sloppy goals Barca were still the better side and added a further 2 themselves through T.Cotterill & N.Anderson.

Pools Youth 2-5 AJx Barca

We had our first away game in the prem against a strong Pools side.

AJX started wobbly with a loose pass latched onto by their forward only to be cleared off the line by Theo. AJX then settled and started to find their passing game. Ritchie had a few chances where their keeper a familiar face pulled off some good saves. The break through came when the ball fell to Ritchie who smashed 1 into the net! We went In 1-0 up and it could have been more.

The second half we had a reshuffle and our second came from the flying Will, who beat his man and rode tackles to find Edward on the other side of the pitch to make it 2-0. The third came when Ritchie again got on the end of a Will cross and finished beautifully.

AJX then took their foot off the gas and thought the game was over! Pools didn’t give up and got their goal when their striker was brought down and the resulting pen was converted. The lads were rocked and the second came quickly after when the lads missed the opportunity to get a tackle in. Hayden made a vital save at 3-2 and gave us the wake up we needed!
AJX switched back on! We got the ball moving again and Fraz hit one on the edge which took a deflection and took it beyond their keeper. We then finished it off in style when Theo took his opportunity to unleash a shot on the edge which found the top corner.

Overall a dominant performance but it shows switching off for 10 minutes at this level can be costly.

A great effort from the lads today as we faced Billingham Town FC. Unfortunately ending in defeat.

The game started slowly going behind to a scrappy goal. Joshua scored 5 minutes later to equalise after an assist by Will. Going into halftime level.

In the second half, the game turned into a battle with the opposition getting very physical. Liam, our keeper, pulled off some amazing saves throughout the match. The team showed a lot of determination to get back into the match, however after Billingham scored another 2 goals we were unable to finish our chances.
