Having announced the appointment of Ollie Thomas as Head Coach and Max Stelling as Rugby Operations Manager some weeks ago, we are delighted to announce that our playing management team is now complete with the appointment of Jack Richards as Head of Performance. In his role, Jack will oversee all aspects of our playing performance and will report to the board where he has been a director for some years.

Jack will also continue to lead our community coaching programme which has won so many plaudits most recently from the RFU’s CEO, alongside his Moseley Oak commitments.

We welcome Hinckley to Birmingham Moseley this Saturday for the last block of pre season friendly action and our first one at home!

Please note the fixture has been moved forward to 1pm due to mutual needs between both clubs.

TOUR UPDATE!

A pre season session saw the first team squad make the short journey over to Holders Lane playing fields for the inaugural ‘Jeavons Challenge’. Named after former Mose hero Nick Jeavons.

Many members may remember this site with their first ever experience of the red and black, as this for many years was the site that the M & J‘s trained on a Sunday morning. Norm Johnson and Bob Brown passing on their wisdom to hundreds of aspiring rugby players.

The challenge itself included a 3 km trail run, a further 1 km weighted carry, and multiple hill sprints. Judging by the expressions on the players faces, the intense heat didn’t make the challenge any easier! Nor the fact that half the squad got lost on route!

Thankfully, modern technology means we could track things like distance covered and kilometres per hour etc and so a clear winner emerged…Viliame Salusalu, a triallist who we hope to add to our squad shortly. A highly accomplished 7s player who will join from the British army.

Congratulations Salu!

Ladies and Gentlemen…

We have a huge night at the darts with the five time world champion and darts legend Raymond Van Barnevold.

There will be stories from his glittering career as well as the opportunity to be one of sixteen lucky ticket holders to play against leg of darts against the former champ!

🚨CLUB CAPTAIN ANNOUNCEMENT🚨

Birmingham Moseley are delighted to announce the appointment of Will Masters-Safe as Club Captain for the 26/27 season.

This pivotal role will include such duties as being the lead representative of the first XV to the wider club. Will will actively look to collaborate with all other playing sections from mini and juniors right the way through to the senior women’s section and Moseley Oak. Furthermore, Will is committed to including all sponsors and fans on this season’s journey.

Speaking of the appointment, Ollie Thomas commented: ‘Will has great standing amongst the playing squad. He has a lot of experience in the game and is a perfect fit for the role’.

We spoke to Will who said:

“To be named club captain of such a historically important club is a massive honour, and one I won’t take lightly. We have got a great group of leaders and an exciting playing group, and we are all in anticipation for the season ahead. I’m looking forward to showing what this group can do in front of the Moseley faithful.”

RUGBY RETURNS TO THE COMMON!

The boys head to Wales this weekend for their pre season tour, and the following week will finally see rugby return to Moseley!
